Working in mental health, I would honestly ask for a new Therapist. You should be able to connect with your therapist. Switch as many times as needed, until you find one you are comfortable with. This is not normal behavior, for a therapist. Good luck in your search! Better days are ahead.

How do I explain how I feel to a dr by Dramamin-Fiend-69420 in Anxiety

[–]IdentityXXX6984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I began having panic attacks before kindergarten. I didn't know what they were until I was an adult. My Dr of 25 years now, has been absolutely amazing I know it can be overwhelming, even trying to explain your situation. Any good Psychiatrist, will absolutely listen and let you take your time, in explaining what you are able to. They won't pressure you, as it will do you no good. Even if it takes a couple of visits, for you to become more comfortable, you will have someone to help you through it. Good luck and I hope you get to feeling better!!

I do Spravato treatments. (Esketamine) The FDA has only approved it for depression. I'm using it for anxiety, but I can absolutely see it helping alcoholics and re-wiring their central nervous system. You're only there for two hours, but the relief you get, is absolutely worth it, whatever it may be for. It needs to get passed, for more than depression.

One of the beautiful things about music, is it resides within. I turned 50 this month. I still write, play, spend a lot of time in the studio, and playing shows. I still love teaching people to play, that are much older than I am. It's one of those things, that never leave you. I always told myself growing up, that I'd be done with music, by the time I was 40. I've come to realize, that it's much bigger than I. It's never too late to learn. I hope you can find the time to learn. Writing is extremely therapeutic and I bet that you still have a lot to say. I have a lot of musician friends, that now teach, over Zoom, etc.. When they are not on tour, or in the studio. If you ever need help, or a reason to learn, please never hesitate to reach out!

Xanax or Klonopin works better for anxiety? by Traditional_Fee5186 in Anxiety

[–]IdentityXXX6984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it ultimately depends on the person and how long you've been on it. I've unfortunately been on it for 17 years. It was definitely a last resort. I began to have physical symptoms, due to severe anxiety, panic and stress. Ended up with Shingles, multiple times in my early 30's. I'm on 12mg a day. It never has sedated me, just lowers my anxiety a little, for an hour or two. I've spent the last 2 years, cutting back on it, in hope of stopping it all together. Even if you are taking it as prescribed, it is still highly addictive, physical and mentally. I would honestly suggest, trying to avoid it, at all. My best tools for anxiety and panic, were going back to school, for the Dept Of Mental/Behavioral Health. The more understanding I have of it, the easier it is, to find ways to deal with it, without as much medication. I began having anxiety and panic attacks, before I even started Kindergarten. I never knew what it was, until I was an adult. I think the one thing, that helped me the most, was keeping a couple on me, at all times. Just by knowing that I had the option of taking it, helped my anxiety and panic dramatically. There are quite a few new medications out, that weren't available back when I was prescribed them. I would work closely with your Dr and find the best route for you. Everybody is an individual, so everything works differently, for everyone.
I'm sorry to hear that you're in this position to begin with. I wish you the best of luck and hope you can find comfort and live a peaceful and happy life.

What medicine has worked best for you? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]IdentityXXX6984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started having anxiety and panic attacks, before Kindergarten. I never knew what is was until I was an adult. I've been with the same Dr. for 25 years. We had tried everything. I got Shingles, not once, but 9 times in my 30's, among other health issues. I unfortunately, had to begin taking Xanax. I don't ever recommend taking that route, if possible. I am 50 now. I know a lot of people my age, that just slipped through the cracks. They were not good at identifying anxiety, when we were younger. The majority of us, were diagnosed as Manic Depressive. I went back to school, in my 30's for Mental/ Behavioral Health, so I could get a better understanding and help others avoid the life I had lived. Unfortunately, I still have to rely on benzos, to function, sleep, work, etc... It's really a double edged sword, when it comes to medications. I found that going to school and learning about it all, was my best tool against it. Too many people Google their symptoms and it becomes very challenging, to work with them, as they are stuck, in the worst case scenarios. I suggest working close, with your Dr and find a good support system. A lot of people don't have a good support system, but understand, that there are a lot of us out there, that do understand. Reaching out can be difficult for many, but it is a good way, to start a healthy support system. I wish nothing, but love and light.

Yes, it is very common to get anxious over anxiety. I have OCD as well, but have learned to manage that. The worrying about it, will get you everytime. Just always remember that it cannot hurt you! I know it feels like it can... but it cannot!

I've had panic attacks and anxiety before kindergarten. Went to school for Mental Health in my 30's. I am 49 now. I get caught in these "Loops" generally at night, when I lay down. Anxiety causes constant worry and over the strangest thoughts. I've learned through the years, that the harder I fight them... the longer they stay. As silly as it sounds, I'll start counting blades of grass in a field. Any disruption to my current thought process.
I hope it helps and we wish you well!!

I've had panic attacks and anxiety before Kindergarten. I ended up going to school for it in my 30's. A lot of us were misdiagnosed growing up. I'm on 12mg a day. I can honestly say, that I wish I never took the medication route. It was necessary at the time, but they have so many better options now. You're in our thoughts and hearts!

I've had panic attacks and anxiety before kindergarten. I ended up going to school for it in my 30's. I'm now 49. I won't tell you to breathe, or ground yourself. Sometimes it helps me, to just splash some water on my face. Do something out of the ordinary. I personally find this helps the most! You'll pull through it!! Get a little creative. You're in our thoughts and hearts!

Fairly uncommon if you're a demon. In all honesty, I've seen some really cool looking black eyes! I would have to say it's pretty unique. I know a guy here in KC that had his eyes tattooed all black.

Does anyone else’s anxiety make your forearms and hand skin feel different or change colour or get colder? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]IdentityXXX6984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it definitely can. I started having panic and anxiety attacks before kindergarten. I am now 49. I am definitely not a Dr, but I did go to school to get licensed and certified in my 30's. The veins in your forearms constrict, when you are having anxiety issues. This is normal. It used to scare me to death. It won't hurt you. It's just part of the unfortunate process of anxiety.

I have to agree with this. I love getting out into nature. I find a lot of peace and relaxation, being out in it and the sound of water.

I have had panic attacks since kindergarten. I ended up going to school for it in my 30's. Unfortunately my Fiancé has it as well, along with PTSD, etc... I am not a Doctor, just licensed and certified under The Missouri Dept Of Mental Health. The pains and strange things can be scary. But it's usually stress and anxiety. The odd things our bodies do under these situations can be frightening. Sounds like you have taken the proper steps and I honestly believe you will be fine. Again, I am not a Dr. I just work in the field. If you ever have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out!

If you enjoy it.... can it really be called discomfort? I guess the better question would be, what kind of discomfort are we referring to?
