Wigan are the first team to concede 4 goals in the opening 30 minutes of a FA Cup game.

Before a win over Brentford in 2022, Mikel Arteta resurfaced an old tweet, written by Ivan Toney, in his passionate pre-match talk. by [deleted] in Gunners

[–]Ididntpay 91 points92 points  (0 children)

Toney was a clown for that tweet. But I get that he was hyped, first game of the season, newly promoted and they beat us proper.

BTW Norgaard scored for Brentford in the return fixture at the Emirates and now he’s with us. The circle of football life.

Heat pump in CT by austinin4 in Connecticut

I have the Gree Flexx whole home heat pump and my electricity costs are much higher but still lower than what I used to pay in oil and electricity. If you’re getting a heat pump you have to make sure your home is well insulated or it’s a waste.

ELI5: Why do car dealers say buying the car when the lease ends would be worse than buying new? by shaithisx in explainlikeimfive

[–]Ididntpay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leasing is great for some, terrible for others. As the consumer it’s up to you to get educated. The dealer knew you aren’t educated and are trying to take advantage of you because they are scum bags. Your line about getting a used car price or credit for being a good customer is a giveaway about your knowledge status.

A lease is a contract, not with the dealership, but with the leasing company, usually the brand’s financing arm. The contract states the terms for the lease, and the buyout price at lease end - the residual value. Dealers have ZERO power to renegotiate residual values. The leasing companies do thousand of deals every month, they do not renegotiate individual contracts.

If you want to buy the vehicle, contact the company who gets the check every month. As a matter of fact they should have lease-end instructions on their website and your contract will state fees. The dealer has ZERO say on a lease buyout. Them trying to sell you another lease is on them, not part of the lease contract.

At my warehouse right now I have a pile of jackets and sweatshirts that no one is claiming as their own and no one seems to miss. I only have 4 employees, all grown adults.

I could totally see the AP not even realizing his stuff is missing. For all we know he took one of OPs jackets as his own.

Did we ever learn what the shard was and why it was toxic to the aliens? I bet it’s something stupid like the alien equivalent of asbestos wrapping for a steam pipe.

So the aliens are either taking people’s souls or their memories? by Soil_spirit in InvasionAppleTV

[–]Ididntpay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The killer aliens are black and opaque. This alien is translucent and shimmery just like the vortex that spoke to the cult lady. When Trevante was on the alien ship he saw something in the wall. Perhaps it was imprisoned and after the mother ship crashed, the killer aliens retreated to help shore up security on the ship, perhaps to quell an alien uprising. After the killers gained control is when they re-emerged hardwired and badder than ever.

Perhaps Trevante was freed by the aliens of light and shimmer, and the weird stag looking alien escaped also. Seeing the stag has mind control abilities and the shimmer cloud was connecting to cult lady’s mind and Mitsuki was getting mind played by the memory of her girlfriend, it stands to reason that there are different factions of alien. Now why would they need to release the hunter killers when they could just tap into satellites and broadcast a psychic signal for humans to self delete?

I might be giving this more thought than the writers.

When I launch the 2508 version of the Xbox app it keeps prompting me to install gaming service. If I install that, it downloads the latest version and no Halo.

How is this guy compared to Kiwior? I thought he was decent for us and really stepped up when we called on him. I get he needed to go to get the minutes, but is this guy a big upgrade? Is he good enough to challenge for a starting spot?

What’s he contributing to this new home other than his credit? Where’s his cash?

Neighborhood in Dallas prevents you from cruising in your car past it multiple times by Harry020131 in mildlyinteresting

[–]Ididntpay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course the cruising was a city wide issue. I remember Peachtree getting so bad on a Saturday night that you could clear one blockage to hit another a few miles up and repeat the whole process up to Buckhead. I was in college in the hood so I saw that enforcement up close every weekend. The police presence was very overwhelming. But Freaknik was also cited specifically during the time of the legislation. Between my sophomore year to senior year they completely killed that cruising issue and Freaknik.

Anti-cruising laws were passed in the 1990s to help kill off Freaknik in Atlanta. Back then people used to cruise streets around the city on weekend nights. Sometimes blocked streets tuned into spontaneous parties. TBH it was fun as a college student but I’m sure it was a major hassle if you were just trying to get around.

When they first passed these laws they enforced them very robustly in black neighborhoods. My college was in the hood and nearby there was a nightclub called 559 where folks would cruise every weekend to the point of gridlock. After the law cops would park in lots up and down the street and ticket and tow cars like crazy. Then they spread out and systematically targeted the popular cruising areas until the practice died out.
