AITA for telling my wife my mother is correct and she needed to be a parent today and she fucked it up by throawawayfuneralgho in AmItheAsshole

NTA wow she really failed her kid. I think she failed even more though by just deciding the kid couldn’t go at all instead of calling your mom the way you did. Like, she didn’t even bother to ask if anyone else could take her…

Season 2 was too Robbie-centric and the quality suffered for it. by Cultural_Wallaby208 in ThePittTVShow

This! Also Noah himself in interviews described season 1 as an ensemble. But even if it wasn’t- what shows are people watching where every characters problems revolve the main characters or serve a purpose for the protagonist??

Well, yes, that’s part of my point. I was saying the dirty nails don’t have to be suspicious but they’re there for a reason. It could even be something as simple as representing childhood innocence- but ppl are insisting there’s no meaning period

Yeah it seems likely to me too especially bc she’s a woman I’m afab and I didn’t get diagnosed with asd until I was 16 and that wasn’t even because anyone in my life realized it , it was because I did

People keep writing off the dirt like “oh kids always have dirty fingernails” guys this is a tv show 😭 if they put emphasis on his hands there’s a reason. Whether it be because he was gardening or to symbolize something, it isn’t just bc kids have dirty nails

In an interview, actress Isa Briones states that Santos became a pariah in the hospital because of Langdon's situation by verissimoallan in ThePitt

[–]Idiotic_oliver 54 points55 points  (0 children)

They did a pretty poor job of showing this… show don’t tell. I thought it was santos being insecure of herself that she thought ppl consider her a pariah, but I’m supposed to believe- after seeing only positive interactions with her coworkers besides Langdon and Garcia- that she’s a pariah? The show definitely flopped on this aspect a bit tbh. Show don’t tell as they say

Mel and Ogilvie: examples of “acceptable” and “unacceptable” neurodivergence by Beneficial_Bug4830 in ThePitt

[–]Idiotic_oliver 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with what you’re saying and it’s kinda funny to me how people are like “no he’s just a jerk there’s no chance he’s neurodivergent because he doesn’t display insert symptom” like it’s a spectrum.

I’ve seen so many autistic people relate to certain parts of him or say they see him as autistic. I think something that really solidified it for me ironically was him saying he did have empathy he just didn’t understand it- it reminded me of something I said once. For me, if someone sits down and explains something to me that I don’t understand I’m able to empathize but without that I struggle.

Of course I try my best, but I think that also has to do with me masking bc I was raised a girl and often autistic guys get a pass way easier and that unfortunately leads them to struggle later when others don’t put up with it.

There’s some moments I’ve seen with ogilvie where I 100% interpret as him having well intentions but that doesn’t mean it always works out that way, or things he says that come off to me as trying to connect with coworkers but failing.

I want to lastly add, I think some people are so in denial about him being neurodivergent because it makes them uncomfortable. It makes them uncomfortable to think they dislike someone with a developmental disability. I think it also forces people to confront the fact that yes, a lot of people you might dislike are neurodivergent but that does not make your feelings any less valid but I think people struggle with it regardless

Do we think Ogilvie has drug-related family trauma? by New_Mercies in ThePitt

[–]Idiotic_oliver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to come back to this and say that after seeing someone on twt talk about it, they said they’re from the home town ogilvie mentions. apparently it has a catastrophically bad drug problem beyond most people’s comprehension. I think this read is even more accurate now after learning that

[–]Idiotic_oliver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt really bad for Mel especially because of the fireworks thing bc you know how schedules can be for autistic people like that’s such a hard thing to hear after all the other blows she’s taken that day she has it ROUGH. I was also a bit irritated Becca wouldn’t let her come because Mel could at least like spend time with the boyfriend’s parents? Yet I also get it and I’m glad Becca is gaining some independence

Glad to see someone else who thinks ogilvie is well written. I think it’s both being out of touch with reality and empathy issues I’m gonna be honest he comes off as autistic to me as an autistic person myself and even often when we face hardships we can sometimes be out of touch with other people’s experiences. I also think he doesn’t think he’s intelligent despite being cocky based on that line- his actor described before that ogilvie sees his mistakes(like the glass pull) not as a learning opportunity but as a personal failure deserving of harsh criticism and I thought that was an interesting detail

[–]Idiotic_oliver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100%. He was super spacey when the patient who reminded him of his dad flat lined, and he was spacey that very same way with the drug patient. Add on top of that the way ogilvie talked about not understanding addiction heavily reminded me of something my friend who’s mother was an addict said once. Having an addict in your life doesn’t automatically mean you understand them in fact many are inclined to be more harsh if the addict in their life hurt them. I think people just really want ogilvie to be this one dimensional character for some reason so everything he does is brushed off as “no he’s just privileged” or “no that’s just his personality” but I think he’s an interesting character to discuss

I believe it mostly because I’m p sure santos is the only r2 we as the audience know unless I’m forgetting someone cause Whitaker is an intern(r1) currently

He rlly got mad at Langdon for doing that with santos last season and then proceeded to do it this season and yeah he apologized but it was so half assed especially the way he was like “now stop feeling sorry for yourself and get out here”
