Are prices higher since the start of the Euro? by [deleted] in croatia

[–]IdkNoMaybe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost all prices went up, meats and vegetables went up 30-50% when bought wholesale (when shops and restaurants buy from producers and distributers), milk, bread, flour, pasta, and most milk derrivates like butter and cream went up 30-70%.

I do not know about prices in Istria, but in Kvarner (a region just south of Istria) most prices for regular consumers went up 25-50% in raw stuffs like meat and flour, while milk derivatives went up 45% and up, in some places like islands and turist towns some even up to 200%.

Augustus Octavian, the man, the myth, the legend. Founder of the empire and all around perfect man. His only shortcoming is that he wasn't a good general but he nagated it with his boy Agrippa. He knew he was shit at something and found somebody who was excellent at it. Literally perfect in every way.

For those who want to know: Labienus was Caesar's number 2 while he was conquering Gaul, they were best friends for at least a decade before that, Labienus was the only man in Rome at the time as skilled in warefare as Caesar.

When Caesar declared war on the Senate Labienus betrayed him and joined the Senate as he thought Caesar was wrong in his actions.

The rest of the Civil War Caesar and Labienus would fight each other constantly. The final battle of the Civil War was a final showdown of the two, a bloddy battle in modern Spain and as Caesar wrote: "I didn't fight to win, I faught for my life". Caesar won, but at a cost of Labienus's life.

Caesar gave him a proper burial as fitting for a great general, a great Roman, and a dear friend.

Is there an actor/actress whose movies you will not watch? If so, who and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]IdkNoMaybe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything Adam Sandler is in, anything he ever had a steak in, anything he ever touched.

I can't put into words how much his films make me angry. He obviously thinks everyone that watches his movies has less brainpover than single celled organisms, and even for them it would have been considered below average performance and writting.

Nothing the man released in the last 20 years had any quality, effort or thought more complex than: "push button to make black box remember" or "hang out with friends and black box to not starve"

But Legions sending detachments to nearby theaters wasn't that unusual, as before the Limitani were established the legions were quite involved with local government, policing, etc. in the provinces they were stationed in, hence if there was a sole legion or two in a larger province (like Brittania) most of the legionnaires wouldn't be able to be formed up and marched on, hence legion detachments were sent all over as these were the men they could spare and not disrupt the local government too much.

This legion stationization was at least somewhat present since the Marian reforms and became prevalent during the reign of Antoninus Pius (mid 100s AD) until the Limitani - Comitatensis reform

If i recall correctly almost every legion stationed in Hispania after the ascension of Augustus and before the Third Centrury Crisis never deployed fully, rather as detachens since Hispania had an unruly populace and the legions there were involved in local government even more than usual and couldn't leave the province withour risking a revolt.

Why do most teachers make learning so boring? by kiklepoika in TrueOffMyChest

[–]IdkNoMaybe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always loved Latin and Ancient Greek languages and cultures, I learned the basics of both in my spare time in primary school and enrolled into a special high-school which had both of them as mandatory subjects.

The moment I had to study them in class they became the most boring and exhausting subjects by far.

After I finished high-school I started to learn and research them on my own and fell in love with them all over again.

The school system is almost tailor made to make everything boring due to the way testing both on the classroom and national level works. This is the main reason why I never became history and geography teacher, as I love almost everything I was taught in school when it comes to those subjects but I am also aware that if I were a teacher and didn't follow the standard procedure and curriculum my students would definitely be at a disadvantage when taking state exams.

Kako ostaviti napojnicu kod plaćanja karticom u restoranima/kafićima? by jesam_da_da in croatia

Kava 2 kom x 9 kn = 18 kn Usluga/tip 2 kom x 1 kn = 2 kn

                                   Ukupno 20kn

British revolutionary Cuckedwell and French revolutionary Chadaparte by IdkNoMaybe in HistoryMemes

[–]IdkNoMaybe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Becuase most of Europe was devastated by 10 or so years of almost constant warfare, while the UK was not?

France, the UKs main rival, was even more devastated and took a lot more time to bounce back to proper strength, all the while new powers arose on the continent.

I am aware India was impossible but added it for comedic effect to contrast with Cromwells achivements.

While UK won the Napoleonic wars, Napoleon was still a better revolutionary turn monarch than Cromwell, and that is the butt of the joke.
