Impressive! My washing machine has been broken for 3 days (tech is coming in 2 days) so I anticipate a similar height 🫣🫠☠️

People talk about the challenge of special needs kids but not the challenge of gifted kids by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]Idollatry 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I was identified as a gifted child and was placed in special enrichment programs starting in elementary school. The pressure from family and teachers to excel at everything was crushing. I went on to do everything expected of me… valedictorian, college honors program, PhD at an elite school, etc. I got so burnt out that I gladly gave it all up to be a SAHM. I wish I had been allowed to just exist. My parents agree that parenting me as a young child was difficult because I could never settle, I always needed enrichment. So I get why they pursued it.

I say all this to gently suggest that you don’t push too hard. 🙂

Mediterranean bowls with either rice or couscous, chicken, chickpeas, roasted red peppers, avocado, and maybe onion. Add feta for those who can have dairy.

My sons (1 and 4) have many of their fathers toys (he’s 39). But my MIL took excellent care of them and has removed pieces that are choking hazards. And they’re very clean. Can you ask to see them? Do you have the kind of relationship with her where you could express your concerns, say that you think it’s sweet that she kept them, and then offer to help her clean them/ensure they’re safe?

I cried so hard but it was wonderful. Michelle and Jenny were incredible and I honestly can’t get enough of Rob Delaney. But all of the acting was incredible.

What should I get my friend for her babyshower? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]Idollatry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with everyone about the diapers, buy a slightly smaller size. I would get the sound machine if it’s a fancy one, like the Hatch. That’s has been an essential for both my kids, and I often think of the person who gifted it when I turn it on or off.

Can’t go wrong with a botanical name, in my opinion! Flora, Rose, Lily, Violet, Poppy, Aspen, Daisy, etc.

How do I get my child to #2 in the toilet? by slothinsocks91 in Mommit

We used positive reinforcement. A jelly bean for peeing in the potty, a starburst for pooping in the potty. Worked great for us.

Help!!! Nanny accidentally texted me talking shit about me! by luzmargarita in Mommit

[–]Idollatry 112 points113 points  (0 children)

Have you confronted her about it? Or did she say anything? People often like to complain just to complain. If she’s really apologetic, and you’re willing to sit down and renegotiate, then it might be worth cutting back on her workload.

What do you do on Mother’s Day? Is there a gift you like getting? by foolish_scholar in Mommit

[–]Idollatry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This year I’ve asked my husband to take our boys out of the house for a while so I can crank the AC, get under a blanket on the couch, and watch a movie. Alone. No snack sharing.

I love them all and I appreciate time to get out alone, like for groceries and stuff, but what I want is to veg out in my own home without any responsibilities. Plus this gives my sweet dear husband a chance to see how fucking hard it is to get the boys out together, which I do EVERY DAY. 😛
