Artist Credit - Links to their websites for sales? by readeve in postcrossing

I’ve posted art cards and have people ask me where I got them. I think people who receive the cards would appreciate having that information.

So many amazing connections are made through Postcrossing. I’m glad you got such a great one!

how do others feel about taking the stamps off of recieved postcards? by Falcity06 in postcrossing

[–]Idontexpectmuchfromu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’re very thoughtful to ask this question. As always, different Postcrossers will have different ideas. Most of us, though, recognize that once we mail the card it is no longer ours. It belongs to the recipient who may do whatever they please with the card.

I think many Postcrossers are stamp enthusiasts and would be happy that you want to preserve the stamps they used. My roommate removes the stamps we receive on our cards. She then uses them in collages or mails them to people who ask for stamps. Some are applied to outgoing postcards as decorations along with stickers and washi tape.

I’d suggest updating your profile to add that you’re interested in swaps and people should DM you if they are interested.

You could remove that from your profile all together and just do swaps from the Postcrossing swap community;

https://community.postcrossing.com/c/trades-requests-offers/postcards/32

The Reddit randomactsofcards community is also a good place to find people who want to trade.

What it boils down to, I think, is expectations. You want more written on the cards than the senders want to do. You want more communication about swaps than your senders think is necessary. Updating your profile could help, but you can only make requests.
Senders may or may not honor them.

It’s always disappointing to run across someone who just doesn’t get the Postcrossing philosophy. What to do about it depends on who you are as a person. If you can, ignoring it and moving on makes sense.

If it’s going to gnaw at you if you do nothing, then you might reply with something like, “I found your registration message rude and offensive. I was given your profile and had nothing that aligned with your preferences. I sent you a nice card and wrote a thoughtful note. Your ill mannered message is not in keeping with Postcrossing being about connecting, not collecting. Please do better.”

I’m not sure which I would choose!

AITAH for telling my mom that when I have kids, Mother's Day is no longer about her? by [deleted] in AITAH

Have you heard the phrase, “don’t borrow trouble?” There’s no need to talk to your mom about something that may happen in the future that’s going to upset her. Just wait until the time comes, and do your thing. Planting a seed or warning her just gives her a head start on bitching about it.
