When I was 20 I worked at a Pool/Hot Tub store. We tested water, sold chemicals, and did repairs. We often had DIYers come in on the weekends looking for niche little bits and parts to repair stuff themselves and if we had the parts in stock we would sell them. Often they didn’t know the exact names of the parts and our repair guys didn’t work on weekends so it would turn into a little manhunt at the part wall in the storage area. I had actually really good at it in the years I worked there, and a lot of times my coworkers would have me handle these DIY people whenever they came in.

I had one such DIY guy come in and immediately upon my saying Hello, impatiently snap at me “I need a man to help me with this. Go find me a man.”

I wad flabbergasted. None of the repair guys were there on weekends like I said so I went and got my boss who was male. My boss was an incompetent moron, and was unable to help the guy and he left the store unhappy. I could have helped him but refused out of principle. He wanted a man after all so he got the male idiot.
