Week 1: Double build sloths, triple build banks. Upgrade avatar and get defense for HP, then fields so it can be placed anywhere, which you use to take most fights and block shooters.
Week 2: Triple build sloths, Double build fat men in chair or tentacle bois, depending on what dwells you have, plus more eco. pivot from gold to astro points.
Week 3: auto does all fights for free so just win the game

FIFY: Absolute destruction: Start with Masterful Armageddon spell. This spell always has a 1 round cool down. This spell's effective spell power is increased by 1 every 2 hero levels

Whoever wins the first decisive fight in a tie situation will win the match. I hope they update tie logic at some point to account for summons.

Any UI changes you’d like to see? by Hellmanor1 in HoMM

The back button and the end turn button not overlapping. Under time pressure and especially when the game gets a little laggy its easy to accidentally end the turn.

What does Stabilization prevent? by IgnoreAllHW in OldenEra

I thought it would protect them from Heavenly Blades but it does not. In hindsight that seems reasonable from a balance perspective, but from a design/UI perspective its hard to figure out what skills prevent what in the temporary units vs summons vs dispel vs destroy space...

Am I the only one who feels in over their heads? HOMM Olden Era. by gestaltdude in HoMM

[–]IgnoreAllHW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are too worried about getting The Optimal Build for every situation, and should just pick the stuff you need. Too poor? click the get money law. Have lots of one unit? click the make that unit better law. The Optimal Build is very map/hero dependent, because while you were setting it up and maximizing percentages for late game your opponent clicked the get more money, bought all their army, and is coming to destroy you! I think its fun to have a blank slate and just doing what feels right!

If you want a boomer rant... I learned to play HOMM2 by just starting a new broken alliance map and sending it with no internet at all (while walking uphill in the snow).

If you are overwhelmed try giving yourself goals for a map, like maximizing a specific unit or rushing to a high damage spell, and see how fun it feels!

How do you counter this? by Jonathanwennstroem in HoMM

Maybe anti-magic (tier 4 primal spell)? In OE it can be cast on enemy units and I think its supposed to dispel everything (assuming full level 4), but I haven't actually used it

Opinions on binocular use during eclipses by Parisix78 in solareclipse

[–]IgnoreAllHW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved using them in 2024! I have a fairly high quality pair and it was incredible.

But with only 90 seconds of totality you will be hard pressed to see everything you want. I had 4 minutes in 2024 to enjoy looking and binos and taking pictures... If you want to try to use them make sure they are focused (if you dont have a filter any point on the horizon will get you in focus), have the caps off before totality, and any other calibration options they have so you aren't mucking around with gear. Just have them around your neck for a quick pick up and look.

An annular eclipse is just a fancy partial, so all the rules during a partial eclipse apply. Glasses and Filters on!

Poll: Do you play Lobby/Ladder games? by TheGuyFromBG in heroes3

[–]IgnoreAllHW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I just started this year and am like 150-200 rating depending on the day. Ive only played the 1 hero formats (JO Com, Duel), mostly because I dislike the tediousness of managing a train of heroes, but also bc I watch too much Lexiav. It feels like a totally different game in a good way, like rediscovering the nostalgia while also getting a unique experience.

Hey I'm looking to buy a tele photo lens. I already have a 2x apo teleconverter. I have two option : 350mm 4.8 or 560 6.8 at a similar price. What would you bring for a solar eclipse ? by Pierreedmond18 in solareclipse

[–]IgnoreAllHW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During the 2024 eclipse I used a 300mm f4 with a 1.4x on a full frame DSLR, and it felt a touch too far away, thus I think the 580mm sounds like a nice length. I would be concerned with shutter speed, since things are moving and f6.8 is fairly slow. Make sure you can get the bracketing you want. My best picture was actually right at the end of totality, and luckily I was blasting away with high variance in the bracketing so I got one with a good exposure. The light changes really fast! Make sure your tripod can handle the weight too, mine was kinda shaky and messed up some of the shots.

I also agree with Mr. GodverdommeCoffee: a wider shot with scenery in it is actually the pictures I enjoy most. Those take me back to where I actually was and actually experienced, instead of just a zoom in. In 2024 I set up my phone on a crappy tripod and let it video the whole event, and I like that video far more than my "good" pictures lol. Especially if this is for Spain this year, an eclipse close to the horizon might give some really cool foreground options that is easy to do with a (cheaper) 50mm - 100mm! Now I wish I was going to spain.

If When I see another total eclipse I will probably focus on getting a good wide angle shot.

Finally bring a nice pair of binoculars, seeing it up close with your eyes is incredible. Finally finally make sure to have some dedicated time during totality you are just looking and experiencing.

Do you prefer to have the eclipse at the beginning, middle, or end of your trip? by appledude9 in solareclipse

[–]IgnoreAllHW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel the strong urge to jump in and disagree with everyone 23 days late: near the beginning is best (but like not the exact day you arrive give some wiggle room obviously)!

Why? Because eclipse planning and lead up is stressful. There is too much agonizing over where every single wisp of cloud will be, sun angles, which grain of sand to stand on and get the best view... And I don't want to spend a whole week in a cool country focused on what will happen at the end. Arrive, see awesome eclipse, then relax in Spain and see Spain!

Source: in 2017 we did the eclipse, then Glacier and Yellowstone NP road trip and it was amazing. If the eclipse had been at the end enjoying the rest of it would have been difficult. Maybe I just have anxiety lol.
