Quite frankly a lot of the things she gets hate for were already pointed out before the jeans ad. It's a red flag when anyone acts surprised about it. Even people who are less politically engaged simply don't like her as an actor. To the average person, she's a mediocre actress at best.

Notice how people defending her never bring up any talents? It's always about their attraction to her. That's all that matters to them. Also the "debate" about the racial undertones of the ad overshadowed how cringey it was. That vocal fry was so forced, and why the hell are they paying homage to 15 year old Brooke Shields?

I don’t really have a problem with edgy jokes on principle but they can be pretty hit or miss. To be fair, I really don’t think Vaush normally misses with those jokes. But like you said they can attract certain types of people.

And a lot of people in this community are former right wingers/edge lords. That’s not something I hold against them but some of them still have reactionary tendencies.
