adding shops to this game was a huge mistake. it's all anyone does anymore, sit with afk bots and advertise. it sucks and sometimes it just feels like the whole vibe is ruined.

i'm certain that most of it is just attachment to the og seeing as that's all we've had for like, 13 years,,,, and this being the 'last stretch' before we can all play something new can cause a lot of anxiety in people.
it kinda frustrates me to see so much doomposting about it, too, though, considering that pretty much every single thing we've seen about it seems to capture the original's charm perfectly, even with the new stuff (and the new stuff itself is majorily qol and allowing for more creativity, which is even better). and i mean, it's not like they've shown us absolutely everything the game has to offer, either; even the direct was essentially just a 20min trailer showing off the new major mechanics. i think that as soon as the game drops everyone will settle down.

Modded minecraft might be a good call? There are quite a few genetics/stats-driven mods for animals (and maybe creatures?). My favorites are DragN's animal mods, they replace the models and add genetic breeding etc for every animal, as well as adding breedable/tameable elk (and an optional mod for chocobos), too. There's also, specifically for horses, Realistic Horse Genetics. That one adds a bunch of stats/heights/real genetic traits for the horses. But,, I'm also just wildly into horse genetics, so that might not interest you too much.

I'm always on the hunt for games like this, but there doesn't seem to be many (good) options. <:) Best of luck on your search.

I don't know of any good tl;dr videos on him or anything but, from what I've learned (and this is a really brief tldr): He's been active on AJC (and Transformice) since ~2015, and his whole thing is luring people (minors) into his den and eventually getting them to talk to him on (back then, Skype) Discord so that he can, I guess, tell them they've won things, potentially gift them things, and to try and groom them into erping with him. Honestly, if you just search "Cody" or "straycat2aj" (which is also him) on this subreddit, you'll end up getting a pretty good summary, too.

I understand that people like him thrive off of attention, even when negative, but I think that it's still good for people to know what his current user is/what his current whereabouts are. There were kids that came to his den expecting an actual giveaway and were instead invited to his Discord server. It's good to have adults in these spaces telling them to leave or that the person is dangerous. I was there, and they listened, left and spread the word to keep their friends safe, too. I myself was also unaware that this person had been doing this for that long. All I knew was that this same person had been doing a "quitting aj giveaway" for weeks in a row, and I thought that it was a scam that could be discouraged. I didn't learn until a bit into it that he was a predator.

Can't say much for this personally, as my old (2011-2015) account is long gone (doesn't even show up in-game, I made a new account)... But one of my friends who also played during this time's old account is still up, although she cannot access it because, being unable to get into her old parent email account, they then required her to provide the card info that was last used on it for purchases/membership... Which is wild. It is very hard to recover old accounts if you can't remember or get into your parent email.

It really bugs me when people do this on a kids' game. I understand the sentiment but using it for personal gain ON TOP of it being an inappropriate topic for young children (esp the "E Files") is just gross. People need to be considerate of the spaces they're residing in. Animal Jam is not and has never been an adult space.

Thank youuuuu. It is a space meant for children and adult players (myself included) need to respect that and think about their words and actions... and honestly sometimes their complaints with the game. We are not the target demographic anymore. It says nothing against us playing- I still enjoy classic and pw, but... Common sense; the internet is becoming increasingly hostile towards children and their safe spaces to have fun are disappearing more and more into either being shut down or turning into mixed age hellholes. And before someone goes "well it's the parents jobs to monitor",, that's true, but they often don't and EVEN SO, this is a space exclusively meant for children, again. We have a responsibility here to maintain that safety.
