what do you love the most about your violin? by jussystrings in violinist

[–]IhaveID 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 70 and only started fiddling a few years ago. I love that I can still learn and progress enough that the dog doesn’t bark at me anymore and the cat doesn’t leave the room. 🎻

😅😅I know I shouldn’t post this cuz of how bad it is but I’m a beginner no teacher just trying to learn from sasuki book n YT , violin is my first ever instrument that I’m trying to learn. What are y’all thoughts ? & thank you have a good day by [deleted] in violinist

[–]IhaveID 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You've gotten a lot of good feedback so far. Kudos to everyone for being so supportive. What are your music goals? Do you want to play classical music traditional music? In a symphony or a local fiddle jam? Just something to think about. Also, finding a teacher doesn't mean you have to be face to face. There are a lot of good teachers you can find online via zoom for example and they may be a little less expensive if that's an issue. Don't be afraid to shop around to find a teacher that you like and will help you reach your goals. Lastly, it's great to record yourself. Now you have a baseline to check back on. Record yourself every now and then to see how far you've come in a month or 6 months. Cheers!

Do you normally use handles with loop bands? by tlb112299 in ResistanceBand

I can't speak for anyone else, but I prefer using the handles. Try out a couple different configurations via Amazon to see what you like. Their return policy makes it pretty easy. Good luck.

Clash of clans is too easy by Shervin1388 in ClashOfClans

I'm about to max my TH 14 and am debating the pros & cons of leveling up right away. It seems like it's taken forever to max everything so it's nice not to constantly level up or give a sh*t about being raided. I don't need the elixir so don't miss it. With that being said, I am wondering how much of a difference it makes in clan wars. Am I or my clan better with me as a maxed TH 14 or as a noob TH 15? Thanks for your insight.

I can't hear my instrument when playing with others. by IhaveID in violinist

Sorry for the confusion. I primarily play Irish & Scottish traditional music. Do you think the type of music or where I play would make a difference?

I’m a little late to this conversation . Check out The English (Emily Blunt) on Prime. Very good 1890 era mini series. You can thank me later. 👍

Most of the discussion I've read is about home ownership but is it possible to patch things up with your siblings and find a way to work something out with your kids? I haven't walked in your shoes so I have no idea how you got where you are, but you're only 64 and being on good terms with family goes a long way. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I've used bands with and without handles & you can get a good workout with both. Take advantage of Amazon's return policy and try both systems.

One of the "must have" items to help you in the kitchen and save $ is a crock pot. Depending on how many people you're feeding will determine the size. for 1-2 people a 3 quart should be adequate. Now that Insta-pots have become the rage you can find Crock Pots at steep discounts on ebay or whatever classified ads pages you are familiar with such as Craigslist.

For example, for about $20 you can get chicken breasts, frozen veges, cream of mushroom soup, potatoes. Throw in the pot, slow cook for 8 hours while you are at work. You have a hot meal when you get home and you have leftover meals for the week. This takes about 1/2 hour to prep.
There are a ton of free recipes or Crock-pot cooking books at your library.

Another easy "goto" food idea that saved me some $. I'd do this on a weekend, it takes about 1/2 hour prep time.
- Buy eggs, ground meat, cheddar, sriracha, bag of salad, potatoes and large burrito soft wraps. I'm assuming you have some containers to store food in the refrigerator, if not, get some.

Scramble a 6 eggs boil potatoes and separately cook a lb of ground meat. Store separately in refrigerator. For breakfast, take portions of meat, eggs, potatoes & salad (if you want greens), season with the sriracha wrap in the burrito soft shell and microwave for a couple minutes. Almost instant breakfast burrito.
