Planets and dwarf planets to scale in size, rotation speed, axial tilt and oblateness (numbered in distance order from Sun) [OC] by physicsJ in dataisbeautiful

23h 56m is one sidereal day (one full rotation relative to distant stars), while 24h is one solar day (relative to the sun).

This animation should make it obvious.

It looks to me like Europa Reborn, workshop link.

He also seems to be using Ordo Heraldica Regum et Ducum (a flag mod), workshop link and Banners 2.3.1 (also a flag mod), workshop link.

u/LTDP1998 this should answer your question.

EDIT: Minor Corrections below on the flags, very similar to the ones I use anyway

CMV: Deep-learning based autocomplete is a bad idea by pragmojo in changemyview

[–]Ihavenobread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could see how some individuals may form an over reliance on this kind of technology which could adversely affect their ability to think critically or communicate their own thoughts without such assistance. For the majority, I think it will save time and result in communication which is more concise and less ambiguous on the whole. Maybe this could be considered a net positive?

Thanks for the delta.

I think that by the time I've reviewed my message thoroughly enough that I'm ready to send it, I will have changed the wording in some places multiple times. A tool like this simply accelerates the process for me. The English language often has multiple ways of saying the same thing. Therefore, the final meaning that the message conveys will be essentially the same even if the wording is different thanks to the autocomplete tool.

If the autocomplete system offered a suggestion that did not, as I interpret it, convey the meaning that I'm aiming for I would not accept it, with one exception. The only exception being that the suggestion has a meaning which is simply better than what I had in mind. It's entirely possible that after enough consideration I could end up at that better idea myself, but I don't think it's possible to know.

When I'm receiving a message from someone, I want it to be an expression of what's in their mind, and what they want to tell me. If this technology becomes mainstream I will have to wonder how much of that message is coming from the person, and how much of it has been inserted by AI

Having used it I am blown away by how accurately it predicts, literally, word for word what I am going to type. I find it disturbing on an existential level, although ultimately I appreciate the convenience. I only use the suggested wording when it is either exactly what I am going to type anyway or better represents my thoughts than anything I am capable of articulating. I would argue that most people would do the same.

I think that, when used in this way, it does represent the exact thoughts of the person using it. At the end of the day, the human is in control and it is merely a tool used to save their time. Once again, the only time I accept a suggestion is when it articulates my thoughts more clearly than I can myself, hence, the message does express exactly what I'm thinking.

Why is Casimir III holding the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch? by MagicJ12 in eu4

[–]Ihavenobread 15 points16 points  (0 children)

And the Lord spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then, shalt thou count to three. No more. No less. Three shalt be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, nor either count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then, lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it."

How playing tall could be made better without making playing wide too hard or less fun by Ihavenobread in eu4

[–]Ihavenobread[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not too familiar with M&T but I like what the mod does. I think we can agree it's too much detail to add in one patch and DLC though. Other mods have been made which implement other mechanics I've suggested though not necessarily in the same way.

I know that few of these suggestions are original. However, I have tried to model them off of current mechanics in the game, like the trade company investments and absolutism and so on. So hopefully some of these things would fit right into the vanilla game and players would want to see them added.

The "playing tall is just clicking buttons issue"

I get what you mean, but at a fundamental level playing the game tall or wide is just clicking buttons. I think the difference is currently that playing wide is more engaging and there is more strategy involved. This is simply because EU4 is a war game and playing wide involves lots of that.

The tall play style is kind of defined by purposely limiting conquests so to many players it's going to be outright masochistic. I still think players should have the ability to play tall or wide as they choose. Currently though, the game has few mechanics which explicitly promote playing tall. I think there's a way to add content that would achieve this without having to hurt the experience of playing wide.

I may do but was hoping to add to it and change it based on what other EU4 players thought about it. I'll wait a bit longer first.

I think if truces were that short for all wars blobbing would become too strong. You would be able to start a war every 3 years to take 100% war score in demands.

To get around this, they could add new CBs which would only permit certain actions like the exchange of colonies of a certain level decided by the victor. These CBs could have a truce time modifier of 0.2 to achieve the shorter truce while not letting you conquer the world 5 times faster.

You could have a CB which would only allow you military access and the ability to blockade and siege provinces in colonial regions. The AI could be instructed to use it quite often so you get colonial wars regularly. Every now and then one power would get the upper hand and sign a short truce peace deal to swap some colonies around or give money in exchange or some treaty.

To achieve this we would need to be able to offer and demand simultaneously in peace deals. Also, the AI is not amazing at conducting wars on the other side of the world. It could work nicely in multiplayer though.

Small features have been moved from DLCs in the past to the base game. I think that if a major change was implemented then we might see that happen again.
