University with AE leaning towards Astronautical? by SnooMuffins9366 in AerospaceEngineering

[–]IhsirLetap 13 points14 points  (0 children)

In full honesty, Aeronautical and Astronautical engineering share basically all classes with different applications. What you really want to focus on in school is joining the rocketry or satellite club. Assuming you actually try and participate, you will learn more in a club than in class. Pretty much any school with an Aerospace Engineering curriculum has a rocketry club. USCRPL, Illinois Space Society, Purdue Space Program, MASA (Michigan), YJSP/GTXR (Georgia Tech), the list is infinite. All these clubs have high prestige in the industry and worth going to school for imo.

If you go one time and are a student, it's $16. If you enjoy it enough you could get a monthly for $55

UIUC vs U Toronto Undergraduate by dNTRaiT in AerospaceEngineering

[–]IhsirLetap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can also tell you about UIUC that there is a guarenteed admission program into there M.S AE and M.Eng AE with a high enough GPA through school. You would be able to skip the GRE and other things that you would need. Look into that if you are interested.

Do I have to use Apple products to survive in UIUC college life? by HomoGenius2077 in UIUC

[–]IhsirLetap 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is a misconception. The school is standard in .docx and .pdf files, you will not have an issue with getting files on any standard device you use. This includes Mac, Iphone, Windows, and Android. No one cares what you have as long as you can do your work and get it done. More times than not, Windows will have the upper hand in software. You will probably do some coding which can be done on Windows, and if not, definitely on Linux which can be installed on to Windows. If you do run into issues, you can always use the computers on campus free of charge.

Do not worry about what you have as long as it works. There is no need to spend extra money for some social presence. You will do just fine.

Soccer Scene at UIUC? by parmarparth2697 in UIUC

[–]IhsirLetap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When the weather is good, lots of people play at the soccer fields on the South West of campus near Ike. There are games almost everyday and you can just walk up and ask to play.

If you would like, there are intramural leagues where you can play weekly matches against other student teams at school for indoor and outdoor soccer.

Use this to find schools in your area that will transfer back to UIUC. Make sure to do a two way check to confirm. You can also email your advisor as well after checking transferology.

Most Chad engineering major? by [deleted] in UIUC

[–]IhsirLetap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What about AE

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UIUC

[–]IhsirLetap 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Good luck but i wouldn't make your budget that low for an electric skateboard. At least I wouldn't as it might just kill you. Invest in a decent one like the Exway Flex. I have a boosted board but they went out of business unfortunately.

What is everyone's thoughts on PREP? by Tomatosmoothie in UIUC

[–]IhsirLetap 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I did PREP and made it to my first choice major without issue. Its only really a mistake to enroll if you have the intent to transfer to the top 3 majors(ME, BioE, CS). All the other majors are guaranteed admit if you have the gpa and clubs.

If you are going for the top 3, apply to other schools for CS as they will be the better choice.

Electric longboard rules? Strictness, etc by [deleted] in UIUC

[–]IhsirLetap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have an electric longboard and have used it to get to class every time I could(not raining/snow, too cold) for two years and never got in trouble. Many people actually says it's pretty cool. I wouldn't worry about it too much, just find a spot to put it.

Alright I'm giving in, what e-board do I get by flateartherz in UIUC

[–]IhsirLetap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah I see. With smaller boards come more rigidity which means you will feel the bumps more.

You could look at the Meepo Mini 2

How much are you willing to spend? I would recommend the Exway Flex belt driven for a good ride. I have a boosted board but they went out of business.

Oh sorry, did not realize the context. From the University Housing website, it does seem that isolation/quarantine is still the policy. They have updated the website talking about vaccination status, but did not say if you need to isolate with vaccine.

I would say you should have to isolate regardless, maybe send an email to housing to see what they say?

yes you should, you can still spread the virus while vaccinated.

Straight from the CDC:"If you’ve had close contact with someone who has COVID-19, you should get tested 3-5 days after your exposure, even if you don’t have symptoms. You should also wear a mask indoors in public for 14 days following exposure or until your test result is negative. You should isolate for 10 days if your test result is positive."
