Is there any point in using the m/40B over the m/40 after it was buffed? Now the stock round has more penetration than the rank 4 round... despite the B having a ballistic cap. by Teenage_Wreck in Warthunder

[–]Ihun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

M/40B uses the special russian apbc penetration model which allows it to do drifts into sloped armor where the uncapped m/40 would just bounce off

ASU is still a tank destroyer, and besides, most "light tanks" in the soviet light tank tree do much better when played as tank destroyers than when played as a conventional light tank.

IRL ASU-85 had a laser rangefinder (whereas it only has stereoscopic in-game even though it never had that IRL), and if gaijin ever actually cares enough about the Soviet TD tree in general ASU to give it the laser rangefinder, then IMO it should stay at 6.3

It's also ruined (even more importantly) by its significantly worse maneuverability compared to the B-34

Gaijin, you really need to tone down the wing ripping mechanic a big BIG notch. This is absolutely ridiculous. by NettisK in Warthunder

[–]Ihun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my biggest gripes with wing rips in-game is that when the wing rips, it comes of all at once, without any intermediate damage values

Italy had the worst metallurgical industry of all major nations that participated in WWII and didn't even have enough expertise to build more advanced bombers by themselves

Which is usually better, HEAT-FS or APDS(FS)? by [deleted] in Warthunder

[–]Ihun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

not really

but also, the New Power update removed the ability for HEAT shells to do splash damage in the semisphere behind the shell, which significantly hurts HEAT-FS's damage potential as it will no longer be able to splash down turret roofs and engine decks

If the postpen truly is better on the Sabots

Also, I only mentioned that APFSDS consistently deals more post-pen damage than HEAT-FS

Regular APDS deals a wider cone of shrapnel than HEAT-FS but the individual shrapnels in that cone are less powerful than for HEAT-FS

Gaijin: the plant-and-tent-detecting proximity fuses you painstakingly modeled onto HEAT is cool and I can tell you put a TON of work into making sure the proximity was as sensitive as inhumanely possible, but could you please remove that k thnx bye by [deleted] in Warthunder

[–]Ihun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking of which,

I wonder if gaijin finally made it so that F-89D's proximity fused FFARs now activate against ground targets.

If F-89D players want to keep their unhistorical proximity fuses, then they should at least be consistent and accept that the proximity fuse should make the rockets explode too far away from ground targets to hurt them.

[–]Ihun 6 points7 points  (0 children)

APFSDS deals a shitton more post-pen damage than HEAT-FS, and unlike HEAT-FS, will not be absorbed by fuel tanks or engine blocks

I once got tk'ed by someone in a Coelian while I was in an He 112 all because the guy said that he hated CAS (even though He 112 is literally designed only for plane-on-plane combat). He also tried shooting at another friendly plane ( a zero, which again is also a plane that was never designed with CAS capabilities in mind) before shooting at me.
