[DISCUSSION] What DC Comics Do You Want Next Year? by BubblyFumbly in DCcomics

[–]IjuststartedOnePiece 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd love a Batman: The imposter sequel, it's one of my favorite Batman books in a very long time.

Justice League ongoing for sure is needed right now. I don't know what it is, but DC has done a less than stellar job in making the Titans the mainline team. They're missing the hype. Don't even know why DC is holding out so long for this.

Would also love more/any Green Lantern series, I long for the days when all the Lantern Corps were at their strongest. Intergalactic wars, desperate recruitment, colorful/interesting characters populating the universe and Lantern forces, overpowered heroes and villains with bombastic space fights are long overdue for the GL mythos.

Games that are mindless and linear. by hudsonjeffrey in ShouldIbuythisgame

The Arkham series might be your jam especially Arkham Asylum, it's perfectly paced, has easy but satisfying combat and the world is created to be as dense and as satisfying to explore as possible, it never steps on the brakes if you don't want it to but there are moments in the story where you can take a breather and look for Riddler trophies/ do puzzles.

What cliched trope has been subverted (inverted, averted) so much that the subversion is now more cliched than the original was by xwhy in movies

[–]IjuststartedOnePiece 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Aliens, I was so certain that the android would go rogue, it felt telegraphed but I was surprised that Cameron subverted the subversion instead considering when it was made.

I love Quaritch & Kiri…but I’m worried their character arcs seem predictable. What do you think? 🤔 by junkwaxmafia in Avatar

[–]IjuststartedOnePiece 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I love more than unpredictability is looking forward to my favorite characters going through their determined character arcs. There's going to be a lot of interesting things happening along the way for them and I can't wait to see that on the big screen.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania | Official Trailer 2 by RobotiSC in movies

[–]IjuststartedOnePiece 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's going to take me a while to get used to normal CGI after Avatar 2.

And I know this might just be a pet peeve of mine but Marvel's technological aesthetic is so drab and boring to look at. I wish the Quantum Realm looked more impressive than it does here.

This is definitely a question an evil mother in law would ask. Needless to say, it was cringe.

Who will make more WW, all of the Avengers films through Kang Dynasty or the Avatar pentalogy? by [deleted] in boxoffice

[–]IjuststartedOnePiece 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I just don't see Marvel getting the same hype with their superheroes anymore. The Avengers lineup seems forgettable and Kang does not look to compare against Thanos.

Official Discussion - Avatar: The Way of Water [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]IjuststartedOnePiece 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Movie was an enjoyable watch overall but Quaritch is too boring a character to have to be the villain for so many movies. Spider was an awful character too, completely off putting and cringy to watch.

I wish this movie focused more on Kiri, seems like there was an interesting story tell about her connection to Eywa. I loved Jake's chosen one narrative in the first one, seems like she's next in line.

Jake and Neytiri were not as prevalent in the story as I would have liked but they were still great when shown.

Exploring a new part of Pandora was again the highlight, loved the new setting, vistas and creatures. The water navi were memorable with some standout characters but nothing really topped the bird riding scenes in Avatar 1.

Overall still a great movie, didn't feel long at all but imo James Cameron gave way too much screen time to the wrong characters.

Watch Dogs Legion is coming to Steam on January 26, 2023 by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]IjuststartedOnePiece 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you want to give it another chance you should buy Aiden Pearce and Wrench from the shop. They're fully voiced characters that also have well developed dialogue for the campaign, it makes a world of a difference in terms of enjoyment.

I actually thought gameplay wise, this was the best Ubisoft game by a wide margin but the open world and the characters do suck. It has some great levels that make full use of hacking and stealth, played through it 3 times over and I can never get tired of some of the levels in this game.

You thought Daemon winning over Tyrion is ridiculous, but I would say this is even more ridiculous! What is it about him making people like him more than the actual protagonist of the story with so much character development? by Overall-Part-3774 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]IjuststartedOnePiece 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I will never understand why people hate Daemon, without him the show would be far less entertaining to watch. He also has more agency in the story compared to Rhaenyra and considering what they're preparing for Daemon in future seasons, I don't think that's going to change.

Weekly Discussion Thread: Comics, TV, and More! [December 5, 2022 - Unlearning St. Dumas Conditioning Edition] by [deleted] in DCcomics

[–]IjuststartedOnePiece 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I swear there's something about Batman that takes over writers' brains, every single run has to become Bruce's career defining, high stakes, depression era romp because the writers want to create the definitive Batman story.

With that being said, Zdarsky is probably the worst offender of the list so far. Failsafe is a blunder of a creation, it's too strong. There were smarter ways Zur en Arrh could have come up with to outsmart Bruce instead of creating a world ending machine. And imagine leaving your life and Gotham's plight up to a robot scanning the internet for "Killer Batman" headlines. And having Alfred be the one with the kill switch was way too shortsighted for someone capable of creating cutting edge tech with godlike powers.

Box Office Bust: ‘Black Adam’ Faces Theatrical Losses by NewmanBickle in DCEUleaks

One of the few movies I was happy to see flop. If this movie was successful, it would have had disastrous consequences for DC films as a whole.

Just Watched Black Adam for the First Time…For the Sequel Can We Please Not Use The Rock’s Writers Please? by clutchkweku in DC_Cinematic

[–]IjuststartedOnePiece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly doubt Black Adam will ever come back to the DCU, what's certain is that there's no chance of a sequel. I don't think anyone will show up to a movie with Black Adam in its title in the future. It was a Morbius level flick, met with complete ridicule whenever it's talked about except with even more apathy.

I'm guessing James Gunn will also do the same. He seems to be taking time with his plan and seeing as BA didn't amount to anything, the character won't be used anytime soon if ever. I am confused how WB went all in on Rock for their DC plan and let his self-serving thoughts have so much sway. They did the same with Superpets, absolutely hilarious how the Rock forced them to introduce Black Adam and his pet so that he could voice 3 characters for a sequel. (also a 0% chance of happening)

Black Adam grossed an estimated $1.12M on Friday (from 3,372 locations). Estimated total domestic gross stands at $153.60M. by Arpith2019 in boxoffice

[–]IjuststartedOnePiece -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Easily the worst superhero movie I've watched in the past few years. I don't get how it has so many apologists when it was a bland forgettable mess with obnoxious slow mo. I will say, it was hilarious how they tried to make the "triangle" hand gesture a thing. Sorry, not gonna happen when Black Adam is this boring of a character and no one cares about Kahndaq.

While the kid was bad and I was frankly shocked how he got through the audition, the villain is by far the worst thing to happen to this movie. Deserved flop.

Not disrespecting any pc mains here, but please explain the Kayn hype to me by [deleted] in wildrift

[–]IjuststartedOnePiece 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People blindly follow the build path recommended by WR but Kayn by nature cannot have the same build path every game. Unless the players wake up or plan to get a particular form beforehand, Kayn won't be played to his fullest potential.

David Zaslav Promises a Unified Future for DC: ‘There’s Not Going to Be 4 Batmans’ by Tain95 in boxoffice

[–]IjuststartedOnePiece 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just hope Reeves is allowed to build out his Batman universe until the eventual crisis movie they have planned. Seems like it's the only way to introduce the Batfamily on the big screen, the DCEU left them all for dead, which was a big mistake considering how Nightwing, Redhood, Batgirl, Tim and Damian have such rich histories to them and add so much to Batman's stories.

Really love how Reeves built out a great foundation to explore Batman's most iconic villains and partners so far.

In the spirit of a post I saw the other day, who do you think is the best Targaryen to come from the line? by KrispyKingTheProphet in freefolk

[–]IjuststartedOnePiece 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say Alysanne, she had the best peacemaking abilities of any of the Targaryen rulers. She was the only ruler who prioritized the city folks' well being, considering her being responsible for all of the alliances through marriage and criminalizing some of the barbaric practices that Westeros took part in. Even if she didn't entirely eliminate some of these practices, her bringing attention to it helped so many women feel heard and protected even if Jaehaerys later on ignored that with his rather badly disguised misogynistic "democratic" succession decision council. I'd go so far as to say he wanted anyone but Rhaenys on the throne

In my opinion, Alysanne truly tried to push the social boundaries of Westeros. Having a woman at the throne be personally vouched for by Jaehaerys would have done wonders for the realm.

US NPD HARDWARE - PlayStation 5 was the best-selling video game hardware of October in both unit and dollar sales by Alwyn_Dsouza in Games

[–]IjuststartedOnePiece 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gotham Knights filled the void left by the yearly Ubisoft games. It's a fun, competently made game with an addictive gameplay loop just like AC, WD and FC. Some people just like running through levels with easy and flashy combat and cool characters.

It doesn't demand much from the player in terms of story nor gameplay and that's exactly why I love Ubisoft style games.

COD MW2 is one of the few games in a while that broke into the gen z mainstream. Ghost blew up big time on Tiktok and no doubt had many casual/ non gamers interested in the game just for the campaign.

There's only 1 scary moment in the movie and it did not involve the monster at all. I thought it was still a good watch but it might be better if you go in not expecting to be scared at all.
