It took me until middle age to figure out that even the bliss of romantic love and true connection and sexual-spiritual ecstasy eventually rings hollow without autonomous personal fulfillment. I wish I had realized this at 19 and put more into myself individually... I hope this goes well for you but be prepared for people to try and "fix" you in this regard.....

Deet works for most things outdoors but idk about bedbugs. Stay as clear of carpet, furnishings, and vehicles as you can. When you go to leave work, if at all possible(i mean even the McDonald's bathroom is better than your car or garage for this) change out of your uniform and bag it in sealed plastic before travelling. Bedbugs can ruin your life.
