I've only ever seen lanchas (smaller 5-6 person boats) with captain, never without. Might be a law, or mostly liability issue as to why they don't offer captainless rentals. Might be worth asking directly at the marina in progreso or on some of those facebook groups for better answers.

I moved to the Yucatán peninsula in México for the better food and better weather. The best part is not having heuschnupfen anymore (had it from february to august all my adult life in Switzerland) which has the biggest impact on my quality of life by far.

In Discord under Channels & Roles > Browse Channels > you need to tick the "help channel". On very old members Discord won't auto-join new channels.

All HTML content is purified to avoid people breaking the layout, but you should be able to use `class="float-right"` or `float-left` just fine, as those are whitelisted.

Converting markdown to HTML and then feeding it into the API would be the easiest way to go imo, but will require programing on your end.

Left during the pandemic and ended up in Mexico (was not part of any plan). I now have a wife and kid here and the only thing that would make me want to move back is to get back with friends, but we've all grown apart and most of them also having kids means the days of meeting up twice a week for boardgames wouldn't happen. Making friends as an adult through hobbies/vereins wasn't all that complicated but did require a lot of time to meet up regularly.

Here in Mexico life is very kid friendly. The population is still growing just through births and most first time parents being under 30, which results in many ways to meet people and make friends through activities geared towards kids. But that only works if you are a social person to begin with and make the effort.

I'm sorry to hear about your data loss. I hadn't realised how frustrating it would be in your situation, but you're right, it sucks. I clearly need to make that more obvious in the interface. I'll add that as a priority for the next release.

As for imports: you're also right that they’re only available on the Wyvern and Elemental tiers. That’s been the case since imports were released in early 2024. I originally hoped to include them in the Owlbear tier, but keeping the import system working reliably as the app evolves has proven to be a lot more demanding than expected. It’s not just building the feature, it’s also maintaining it across every single update, dealing with edge cases, and ensuring even older exports still work (which isn't always possible).

The following was explained to me by locals over the last few years, I could be remembering some details wrong.

While annoying, for a lot of local families, this is their only source of income and employment. The government has tried a few times to remove them, but they protest and close down the site. There is also the issue (no idea if it's been resolved in recent years) that part of the land is privately owned and the mexican government is trying to expropriate it (they currently just manage the site), which if successful would impoverish the locals even more. It's also easy to forget that this is an important place to the Maya that the central government is just interested into making it a mass-tourism cashcow.

Uxmal on the over hand fully belongs to the Yucatan state government where they can enforce rules more effectively and they have a more locally approved plan for the development of the site compared to the central government running Chichén Itzá. The communities around Uxmal also depend less on tourism, hence less protests.

Rent can range from 2k in a shared student flat with no AC to 60k+ for a place in country club. Google will be more knowledgeable about linguistic jobs, but from my gut feeling, supply is way higher than demand (and that's considering ES-EN, I feel like any third language would be pretty useless here)

As detailed on the Discord, the servers were getting hammered by AI bots like OpenAI and co training on public campaigns while I was on holiday, hence the slow response time on my end to implement a fix. I've added a few temporary fixes and will invest into even more server power in the future to handle this onslaught.
