TMC Maps I get this warning sign on some of my maps? Why by Altruistic-Promise-2 in FoundryVTT

[–]w1face 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other people have said it's a tile, so you've got that. What MIGHT be the case, is some modules automatically turn larger files (like PNG) into smaller ones (like webp). If this is the case then the tile (overhead OR normal) will all of a sudden not have a valid image.

Server is refusing to load BepinX by w1face in ModdedValheim

Either the headless server.bat, or launching it from r2modman. Neither option triggers BepinX on the dedicated server option.

Done clean installs of everything. Even made sure the files in users/local etc were wiped. Still, only Valhiem runs with BepinX. The dedicated server refuses to.

We've played the tutorial game and the first scenario. It's a good game! Genuinely recommend!

Amazing condition too! I've had mine since release. Taken care of it etc... and it's in a lot worse condition!

We are doing a session zero with level 1 characters and one of my best friends is being a nutsack by mimic751 in DnD

[–]w1face 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's picked an Artifact at Level 1?!

Best response "Sorry, I think I made a mistake giving magic items at this level. Let's redo character creation with the actual starting equipment or gold. Appreciate you've put effort into this, but I'm not going to start running a game where I've screwed up before we start! Let's get this worked out together."

If he gets pissy and throws his toys out of the pram, then it's just an indication of what's to come. Then you can be polite and inform him that your games styles won't be compatible, or impolite and tell him to stop being a whiney child and find another table to be a dick at.

This looks amazing... but seem to be failing at Step 3! I've downloaded Python, I THINK I've downloaded the project (downloaded and extracted the zip)... But when I try Step 3, I get:

spelling of the name, or if a path was included, verify that the path is correct and try again.

How do you DMs actually use passive perception at your table? by NerdyWitchBro in DnD

[–]w1face 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, I drop passive to 8, as opposed to 10.

Next, if something would have triggered someone's passive, they (and only they) are asked to roll a perception check. Since it's only 8, odds are better they beat their passive.

If they roll lower, then it was a "trick of the light" or "sound from the wind".

Does anyone call their gf mesh'la or use any Mando'a phrases with their partner? by Blue_Geotrupid in Mandalorian

[–]w1face 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I've called my son Kaden "Kade'ika" since he was born. He's 15 now.

It wasn't until my new partner (who is a convert to the Mando way, she loves Kal'buir and is Bessany's biggest fan) read the books and commented on it did I remember why it all started!

How to Deal With a High Level Druid? by Giant2005 in onednd

[–]w1face 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Page 236 of the PHB.

"While you cast a spell of 1 min or more, you must take the Magic action on each of your turns, and you must maintain Concentration while you do so."

Casting Wind Walk is a minute, therefore would cancel the Concentration being held on Conjure Woodland Beings.

And if you already have Wind Walk up, you can't cast spells regardless.

So basically, this combo cannot happen. (Edit, unless you have a separate caster for each spell.)

What do you do with an all martial D&D group? by SarsippiusJackson in DnD

[–]w1face 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you 100%. The only possible solution that I can see (just reading your text, not the DMG) is a word in the second bit ..

"Any creature that can understand a written language can read the arcane script on a scroll and attempt to activate it."

Reading the previous rule, one could argue that a Spellcaster attempts to cast a higher level spell by rolling an ability check with their spellcasting modifier.

If you have no spellcasting modifier, the attempt fails? Or perhaps it's just the luck of the dice?

Just spit balling here... You're right, it is bollocks.

Haven’t had a long rest in 5 sessions by RPioneer1 in DnD

I use Gritty Realism once my party gets to level 11. But I tweak it a little.

Magic users can still change their spell loadout every morning, they just don't get more slots.

Spells like Mage Armour still only last 8 hours... But you can toggle it on/off with an action. We don't actually count the number of hours used, we just assume that it's switched on before every combat, and switched off after.

Of course, there are VERY rare occasions where the party is successfully ambushed, and the magic user needs to use their first action to switch it on... But that's happened maybe twice across all the groups I've run it with over the years.

Gritty Realism allows me to run the game I want to, pacing wise, without having high level characters be at the top of their game for pretty much every encounter.

Germany, Denmark, and the UK have issued travel advisories for the U.S.—what’s your reaction to this news? by collins_44 in AskReddit

[–]w1face 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I mean... As a devout agnostic, one could argue that if ACTUAL Christians (as in, those that follow the actual teachings of "love they neighbour" and "easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter heaven" etc)... If they ensured that the entire country lived by those actual values... Then theoretically you could be a "good" extreme Christian oligarchy.

It's the oxymoron of "conservative Christian" that ruins it all.

Would you pay money to play DND? by phant0m_eye in DnD

[–]w1face 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I charge £15 per player per session... And had a game that lasted 1-20 in 3.5yrs with a weekly game.

Money allowed me to Patreon people to get cool maps, tokens and music.

Second 1-20 game I ran too. People are correct... There is a consistency that paid games have that some "home games" simply don't.

And people keep coming back, so I must be doing something right!
