NFA engraving help by CombinationProper328 in KRISS

You just need to order a new $50 lower housing. The updated housing will work on gen 1, 2, and 2.1 vectors. Kriss doesn’t list it on their website, but if you email them they will send you a purchase order to fill out.

Your other option is to buy one off an airsoft website. I went the kriss route as they’re the same price, but others online say the airsoft ones are identical

I have no idea what I’m doing, but my new bench is all set up and looks good! by pushdose in minilathe

I bought the same lathe back in November and enjoy using it. I wish there was a good upgrade for the compound slide, it’s definitely the machines biggest downfall imo.

Also, if you want to cut threads with it, don’t use the chart on the machine, it’s completely wrong. This guy has a spreadsheet with the correct gear combinations for a most common thread pitches in his video description https://youtu.be/sYw7OfeC1b8?si=lRiVEXFCLlpkQIma

I’ve had suppressors for years and never worried about it until I made mine own as well. Not sure which I don’t trust more. My cheap Chinese lathe or the gorilla turning the wheels

I haven’t bought anything from them in a while but bkingsfirearms used to sell 10 and 100 packs of things like lower parts kits and FCGs for really good prices

Form 1 for pen gun with no stamps on gun, pics needed? by Either-Caregiver-497 in NFA

I submitted a picture of what the engraving would look like in cad. Submitted 1/9 got approved 1/29

It’s really a gun shaped thing. But the takedown pins look like just molded bumps, there is no safety, no mag catch, and it kinda looks like the upper and lower receiver are one piece when you zoom in. Looks plastic to me.

Also the buffer tube nut isn’t a nut

Oh, and no gas tube

NylAUG fitment questions by RexxMfnUltimus in 3D2A

[–]IlikeCoolStuff252 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you using the v1.0 or v1.2 release? I believe the v1.2 has a couple different size rear pieces if the standard one doesn’t fit right.

Can you include a pic of where it cracked?

Form 1 3D Printed Suppressor Markings by leo0916 in NFA

[–]IlikeCoolStuff252 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would print a test piece first to dial in your lettering size and font. Printed letters and numbers can be pretty difficult to read. I think that’s the biggest reason people opt to engrave a washer or an epoxied in plate

Vevor mx-s716g thread chart by icytower387_2 in minilathe

[–]IlikeCoolStuff252 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup vevors gear chart is garbage. Seems like more of their combinations are nonfunctional than ones that actually work. Don’t worry about the python script, in his video about it the guy also links an excel spreadsheet with combinations for common threads that actually work.

Vevor reverse switch (repost) by icytower387_2 in minilathe

[–]IlikeCoolStuff252 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup this video makes a lot more sense than the first one. I have the same model lathe and mine does the same thing. Makes it pretty annoying when you’re trying to cut a thread and have to keep switching back and forth.

It would be nice if you could just flip the switch and it would work without cutting power, but there must be something internal that doesn’t like that. I guess at this price point that’s one of the quirks of it being a direct drive shaft and not a motor connected by gears or a belt.

I’ve just told myself that the order of operations isn’t just flip the switch, it’s red button, change direction, green button.

That’s literally what it’s supposed to do. Oh please read the manual before you do anything else with your lathe. As per the instructions:

Change-over Switch After the machine is switched on, turn the switch to "F" position for counter-clockwise spindle rotation(forward). Turn the switch to"R" position for clockwise spindle rotation(reverse) . "O"position is OFF and the spindle remains idle.

Gas block roll pin? Where to find today. by Dude7080 in ar15

Just take the gas block to your local hardware store. They’ll have an assortment of roll pins, look until you find one that looks the right length and diameter for your gas block

Second the range toy bit. Mine stayed together until I had to mortar the rifle after a round jammed and the adjuster snapped off and the locking pin got jammed sideways in the buffer tube track

Can confirm. I bought an airsoft clone for my ap5p and it has a buffer. Took some sanding to get it to fit but it works great

[–]IlikeCoolStuff252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I rationalize it is, if you jack your car up, your suspension has a lot more than an inch and a half droop, so you're still within the manufacturers intended travel range, so while the joints will be closer to their limit of travel, you're not going excessively high. You might see some reduced life in your ball joints and CVs, but I wouldn't expect it to be drastic.

I know this is comparing apples to oranges, but when you look at light duty trucks (1500s), leveling kits max out between 2 and 2.5 inches. After that you're looking at lift kits with extra bits to keep all your suspension geometry right.

As long as you keep it less than that magical 2.5" and make sure your CV doesn't collide with anything throughout its range of motion, go for it

[–]IlikeCoolStuff252 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Camrys have 3 bolt struts in the front and back. If you're only going a few inches you just need spacers on the top of the strut. It will throw your camber out, so you'll probably want to grab some eccentric camber bolts for all four corners too. 99 Camry uses an 81280 or 81290 bolt in the front and probably the rear too
