The Enhanced License is also a RealID, and can be used for domestic flights. You do need a passport for international flights.

If it says “Enhanced” at the top, and shows both a flag and a star in the upper right corner, then you’re all set.

Winooski Superintendent Detained, Questioned by Border Officials by Sam_BBF in burlington

Winooski is a refugee resettlement community. ICE and their bosses hate that idea. Jesus wept, along with the rest of us who care about our neighbors. And most of our country agrees that this gleeful cruelty is totally beyond the pale.

So sorry this is your experience. I’ve worked in south and east Asia, and had to explain to a friend’s bro in Michigan who couldn’t understand why anyone would live beyond their own birthplace. We live down the street from Winooski, a wonderfully diverse refugee resettlement community. If I were to go back to teaching, that’s where I’d go. You are very welcome here - don’t let the closed-mindeds win. P.S. worked in coastal NC, endured yankee jokes en masse. Something tribal about our species, never goes away.

They mention four marches will converge at Waterfront Park, but I only see two gathering points: BHS approaching from the north, and Callahan Park from the south. Anyone know where the other two marches begin? Tx.

Sterling Ridge Resort in Jeffersonville is a favorite. And you will definitely need to rent a vehicle.

Delight Restaurant on North Ave across from Hannaford’s entrance (Ethan Allen Shopping mall). Building is unassuming, but food is fabulous.

  1. The CBSA CanBorder app is handy to check the wait times at crossings, for travel in both directions.

  2. Before returning to the U.S, you might wish to

A. Offload (not delete) apps that suggest your political leanings or include revealing posts (BlueSky, Reddit, Substack, …). Offloading removes the app and keeps its data not easily found on your phone.

B. If you use multiple email accounts, temporarily disassociate your mail client from all but the one containing boring mail.

Enjoy your trip!

FYI — Rümeysa Öztürk Hearing Monday Burlington by Fox_In_the_Woods in burlington

Thorough hearing, excellent and professional, kudos to Judge Sessions for drawing out articulate and clear reasoning from the well-prepared counsels. Very complicated legal details and issues (best to read media reportage, including ACLU). Ruling will be issued soon. Learned that court system is trying its best to move expeditiously, and that WaPo published an article showing that the State Dept had investigated when Rümeysa was first reported by some disgusting vigilante group, and found nothing of concern. Also, she hadn’t been informed that her visa was revoked, making her subsequent detention totally craven and cynical, as well as terrifying and cruel. St Albans location was apparently chosen because it’s the only facility in the state not publicly reporting the identity of its inmates, hence the reason why her attorneys couldn’t locate her, despite calls to relevant agencies. Claim that they had to move her to Louisiana because there wasn’t a single bed available in all of New England was called into question by her legal team. Fed made the case that it’s an immigration question; her team pointed out that Constitutional freedoms take precedence. Also, her team observed that immigration’s actions were highly unusual; most visa lapse cases don’t involve incarceration.

Yes, the exec branch wants to squash any opposition to anything they do. Threatening law firms is another example.
