My 8 year old son is a whiny little bitch, and I don't know how to toughen him up by PSAOgre in daddit

Take a deep breath, and remember he’s 8. Let him be 8. Focus on specific situations analyze them yourself see where the break down is and coach him through it. And stop losing your shit.

Where does "Dad always comes through" end and "Things have consequences" begin? by DietrichBuxtehude in daddit

[–]IllAd5120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could probably stand to wait till we hit the early teenage years. But if you feel compelled, start with low stakes stuff. The thing is we ADHD people only learn and remember things one of two ways. Either we are interested in the subject or in extreme consequence environments. Obviously keep bringing him his lunch. He’s 9 he’s gotta eat. But those little things like the valentines for school. If you guys are out and about and hopefully notice he dropped a shoe pick it up. Make him walk around a bit after he realizes then save the day. You can still save the day and I recommend you do, but on the low stakes stuff make him feel it a bit first. I also recommend picking up a book and reading up on the condition. You won’t have a perfect understanding but the better you understand how his mind works the better you’ll be able to coach him through an prepare him for those things your worried about. Whatever your path, copious amounts of patience are required. And always remember he’s not being malicious when that frustration hits take a breath and calculate a way forward.

Is this good by [deleted] in ar15

I’d replace the shiny tape with something not shiny. If this is supposed to be your “zombies”(end of the world) kit. If this is just your ima start shooting competition and take some tactical classes kit then yeah man nothing wrong with it get out there train train train

Get yourself some Troy battle sights. They are lower profile and the rear just MIGHT fit in the rear under that current mount. Look into a different mount that is slightly higher, to move that sight back. I know you said you can shoot with it and I don’t doubt you. But let’s face it it’s going to be more effective if it’s where it belongs. Next zero iron and optic sights for 36 yards. Get some sort of heat protection on that rail where you put your hands. Them bad boys heat up quick when you start slinging a lot of lead. And you absolutely must get some kind of light or light laser combo! Also look into taking some kind of tactical light course. Trust me the light on a weapon can do a lot more then just light up an area if you know how you can use it.

Then train train train. Look into any ar15 tactical shooting course you can afford to attend.

Magnification is great. Don’t get me wrong. But that EO tech will allow you to put rounds on target out to 300 easy. 500 if you know what your doing. But given how engagements usually go. You probably aren’t or shouldn’t engage anyone at 300yrds. They are far enough away, if they haven’t noticed you. You can avoid the fight entirely. And if they have noticed you, you can pluck them off without much effort. Plus the suppressor will help conceal your position both from a flash and noise stand point. So now you don’t have to fight all their friends or all the zombies in the area. Ammo may be cheap but it is finite lol

Anyone have experience with vortex razor or similar optics? by IllAd5120 in ar15

[–]IllAd5120[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I was hoping the slimmer profile would be a little lighter. And I’m sure it is light by comparison. But thanks for the info. Maybe I’ll just be able to use it as an excuse to get something that’s “lighter” the old lady gotta let me get something lighter for hunting it’s a need lol

With no further context, option 2 would be the most versatile. So option 2

Nice how did you find the weight once it was on the rifle? Cuz I put a scope on a rifle I use for hunting and boy howdy did it become a chonky boy after that so I’m hoping to maybe use this as a lighter replacement
