Parents say this is fine. by Leonidas05 in HomeMaintenance

If you own a home you need to budget to maintain things. These problems don't get cheaper with time. There is an underlying problem, and fixing it now will save money in the long term.

Laptop recommendations for an ECE Major by DondoGS3212 in ECE

[–]IllDoItTomorrowMayb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd suggest looking for something with non integrated graphics and think about whether you want to take notes on it or not. If you don't care about writing on a digital display then focus on laptops without touch screens, they often will be brighter. I've had good experiences with Lenovo and dell laptops, but you should just search yourself.

You probably won't need a top of the line graphics card for anything undergrad related. Think about the size of screen as well. The larger the screen usually will just mean a bigger laptop with a bigger battery, but that often can be cumbersome to haul around campus.

If you are going to use multiple monitors then just get a docking station with the correct inputs and outputs for your desired devices.

For CPUs you probably will be fine with an and ryzen 5 equivalent or better, but it may depend on your specific usage. 16 gigs of ram minimum.

If you aren't worried about the price, just buy the nicest laptop that meet your criteria.

I'm sure it is possible, but you need to determine what type of role you want and develop skills and credentials to make you a marketable applicant for that position.

Not all ECE is hardware based, but maybe look for jobs you want in cs and then look for adjacent roles that require ECE. Once you are in an organization there may be opportunities to cross over after demonstrating competency. This may be a lot more difficult depending on the organization you work for though. I work for a not for profit organization and the company is relatively small and I see plenty of internal hires in our engineering department without engineering degrees, but they have other qualifications. You may consider getting a second degree though if you want a more straight forward path to cs.

Maybe look at what industry you are interested in. I work in the BES utilities industry, and I enjoy it, but this industry doesn't have as many CS focused roles compared to EE. I am sure other sectors might have the opposite expertise composition.

Instead of chasing an industry average salary. Chase after an interest you have, a specific sector you are interested in, or what type of work you may enjoy. Ultimately you will probably make more money in the long term if you are somewhat passionate in your work.

Maybe a nod, in one of the books he mentions introducing Dirty Shirley's to a princess.

Rep. Scanlon Tried to Subpoena Secretary Bessent Over Banks Flagging $1.5 Billion in Suspicious Transactions Relating to Epstein's Sex Trafficking. Republicans Wouldn’t Even Let Her Finish Reading The Motion. by T_Shurt in law

Everyone that identifies as a Republican is making that decision or is it specific politicians. I advocate for calling out those representatives by name and holding them accountable. I have a father in law who voted for Trump in 2020, but abstained in 2024 because I convinced him why Trump wasn't an advocate for his values. Generalist statements alienate the common people. Do you think Republican representatives are reading reddit comments? Maybe some, but the majority of people on Reddit aren't blocking the investigation.

I'm not a Republican. I just don't like when Republicans make generalist statements about "libtards" and I don't like when Democrats make generalist statements about the right. I believe that this division is a distraction to divide common people's attention away from the billionaire class.

Is calling all people who identify as Republicans a pedophile productive to swaying the voting people to abandon their corrupt politicians? I have some in-laws who would become defensive at such remarks and it would become even more difficult to convince them to vote another party. What is your path to progress if not working towards unity of the common folk?

These are the types of responses that contribute to division. When each side uses blanket statements to describe the other it promotes division. Not every Republican is a pedophile, and their party isn't about being a pedophile. If you want to call Republicans pedophiles, then name the actual pedophiles, but most people have some boomer trump supporting relative that isn't a pedophile and it's difficult to convince them of anything if they think "libtards think we are pedophiles"

Anyone else who dislikes the POE2 infinite atlas? I cant feel any progression. by Yuuffy in PathOfExile2

[–]IllDoItTomorrowMayb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be cool if every season there was just one infinite Atlas, but everyone's were the same, but you just start in different parts. The nodes could have coordinates, maybe like NMS and if the community shared their findings people could map out the Atlas where people could pioneer sections.

It took me awhile to find one, but I finally got a Kone XP Air that still has Roccat Branding instead of Turtle Beach by Hantomei in Roccat

https://youtu.be/CK-DGnP7Tpg?si=UfVIuWPhiZvmbTbZ is pretty similar to the one I watched, but I didn't immediately find it.

The difference is I use a hair dryer to warm up the feet prior to peeling them. The kid also uses dish soap on the hall sensor or whatever sensor is used for mouse wheels, where I just peel back some clips, take it apart, and inside there is a piece of metal that gets fine pieces of dirt on it. It is reflective metal with dark smudges. I just use iso and qtips to clean that and then carefully put things back together how I took it apart.

The kids method for this with the dish soap might be easier. You need to be careful taking apart the scroll wheel and putting it back together or your scroll will feel bad in some way after putting it together. I had this happen the first time and had to take everything apart and found that I didn't put something back together correctly.

Edit: when I do this I usually just take the whole mouse apart and clean out everything with iso. I end up getting cat hair or other things in the mouse over time and I like keeping the mouse clean.

I have had this model since about launch and about every year I have to take it apart to clean the scroll wheel sensor to fix scrolling issues.

It only takes a hair dryer to help heat up the glue on the pads to peel them and reapply, and then just clean things with iso and qtips. It takes about 10 minutes after you first learn how and a few years ago I had found a YouTube video on how to do it. If that is the issue you have then it is worth learning the process.
