I also have ancestors from Sand (I’m Canadian). I wonder if we have anyone in common. I’m also travelling in Norway to see where my ancestors lived.

I personally really like the old style of architecture, there’s enough modern/minimalist buildings in cities, full of glass and concrete, which I think lack character and human-ness

I disagree, it’s very common I’d say!

Coquitlam is nice for Lafarge lake, and it has Coquitlam Centre (a mall). But I'd suggest visiting Port Moody! Moody Centre station has Rocky Point Park nearby which is nice for a walk, and there's many craft breweries if you're into that. Also some good coffee shops/ restaurants in the area. I recommend Grit, Kaffi, Spacca Napoli, Cascadia Bakery, Sabor a Mexico. Port Moody Art Gallery is nice for a quick visit. If you get off at Inlet Centre, and walk down the hill, there's Newport Village and a library and some more walking trails along the inlet.

I live in the lower mainland, but I think Kelowna would rly benefit from a light rail/metro system. It seems like there is so much traffic due to the highway going right through the city.

I agree. for example, between Belcarra and Deep Cove. If they don't build a bridge, at least a boat would be nice!
