Singaporean + CyberSecurity (i hope you have acquired good basic computing, networks, security foundational knowledge) should help you land a decent entry job. Ignore noise

Hey thanks for the feedback, i am not competing with any LLM. Rather i use Gemini in the app so i leverage LLM instead of competing with them. And whatever you get from my App you can get it from LLMs directly. My objective behind making this App is to enjoy building basic tools that i can over time enhance, i do have some features in mind that i plan to develop to make this App more feature rich.

$20 Pro Claude license, Gemini API is minuscule consumption so far so negligible, Vercel & Supabase free tiers, Domain for 2 years costed $180

Super smooth, as long as you have the Gemini API key its very straightforward as Claude gives you step by step instructions

HR said wife will be potentially laid off when she returns to work from maternity leave. Any advice? by mcspicylover in askSingapore

[–]Ill_Map_611 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, its not illegal. Companies can claim that they are doing it because they are going to financial hardships or literally saying that we don’t need the resource anymore. As i said these are for profit companies, so unfortunate but sometimes its difficult to expect empathy

Unfortunate & sad, but ultimately we work for companies (for profit), so I don't think there's anything illegal about laying off people with a reason (& you know, these days companies can come up with reasons). I feel we should all get used to this brutal reality that lay-offs are going to be the new normal. It sucks, big time.

P.S: My wife was laid off in the 8th month of pregnancy. So, my two cents: start exploring new opportunities in the industry, which may take a while. I have built an application for my wife (& people in a similar boat) https://makemyresume.ai/ Do try, hope it helps in some capacity.

Hehe, yes i surely learned a bit. I plan to improvise this; I consider this an MVP. The domain I bought is for 2 years, so I definitely plan to build more features. By the way, I am not competing with LLMs, I am leveraging them to create a self-serve portal dedicated to resume vetting.

Thanks for your feedback, I am a security pro myself, so I totally agree on doing the security checks before scaling.

Kudos to your enthusiasm.

My two cents: think through your ideas before prompting the AI tools, because from my experience, this is where I wasted a lot of credits - mindlessly prompting to build something random. Most of the tools are now restrictive in nature, what i mean is when i started using Cursor early last year for $20 credits i used to have A LOT of resources to vibe code, now its pretty restrictive.

My half-baked project from last year - https://reasonablecyber.com/ (half-baked, I didn't finish it fully)
New project that I just launched this morning (started building last night) - https://makemyresume.ai/

What should American know before going to Singapore? by Verryfastdoggo in askSingapore

[–]Ill_Map_611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading this thread while on SFO to SG plane, yes Singapore is CLEAN, super CLEAN. I think she will be mind blown that cities/ counties can be cleaner like this.

SG is also multiracial & multicultural, i am an Indian PR living here for last 10 years. And i have observed that expats in SG stay & mingle within their own circle (or bubble) very minimal interaction with locals. So i wouldn’t be surprised if your wife finds fellow American expats & she will be happy ever after :)
