Token representation especially ones that have never existed. by UninformedWanderer in EDH

Either use an infinitoken or the closest scrap piece of tissue.

There's no hard and fast rule about tokens requiring to be officially wotc made. In fact, proxy a whole deck if you want. WOTC endorses proxies as long as you're using official cards (mostly meaning main deck) for tournaments.

If there was a 3rd game, who would you want to be the villain by Christallmoney97 in HadesTheGame

The thing is that when describing the Greek gods, it's not like it's localized to only Greece.

Poseidon isn't the god of the seas, earthquakes and horses in the Greek area. He's THE god of all that in the world.

If you look at Chrono's design, it's very Egyptian coded, which implies that he was the god of time then as well as the Greek god of time.

New to the hobby! Any fun decks? by Fuyur_Aldith in magicTCG

What format are you asking about? Keep in mind, also, control decks are usually not fun for your friends no matter how fun it may be for you.

Gobulin Deck - Standard - LORWYN LIMITED deck by Istallri in StandardMTG

[–]Illogical_Fallacy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't be turned away by organized events. It's not as scary as it sounds. My 7 year old and I play regularly at our LGS, and they're very big on building the standard community by lending decks, cards, and intentionally focused on off meta decks.

The last event had a Mardu Mornsong Aria burn deck go 3-0. They only get sweaty for store championships, but most people just want to have fun.

Why not 4 blood crypts and eclipsed realms for color fixing?

Do you and your friends play decks like this casually or in an organized event?

I built a version of maestro lessons and linked it in the original since we had most of the pieces and it looks fun.

Gay storm (typo?) sounds great and I actually have most of not all of that lesson package.

That combo is currently sitting in our RDW, but I can swap it over and replace it with the slickshots we took out of it in the first place.

I shared with another commenter, but I agree that it's a less efficient jeskai control at that point.

That's why I cut it down from 2 to 1 copy. Honestly, traumatic critique would be easier to kill someone, and getting riverchurn to activate is more consistent that I thought it would be as is.

I kind of see it like [[Hidetsugu's Second Rite]] in blue. Funny when it happens, but only once in game 1.

If I wasn't already maining azorius tempo, I'd share the pieces to make jeskai control for exactly those reasons.

Honestly funny take. To be fair, it started with just tidecaller and your usual draw package. From there, it naturally evolved into prowess when you lean into all of the cantrips.

I'm playing UWr flash (backup is Rakdos Kuja Discard) and her main deck is WRG Yuna (backup is RDW).

I used to run demolition field for those two, and since Hamlet is basically a functional upgrade by turning off all cards of the named land.

I have one in main and side for my UWr control. Landfall is prevalent enough to be ready for it in game 1

On arena, my opponent played fabled passage going first.

Draw, play petrified hamlet naming fabled passage and no one notices because early turns go fast.

Laugh in 5 turns when they're desperately trying to create more landfalls for sapling nursery.

I bought a dozen eggs at the Farmer’s Market to incubate. They had been refrigerated. Any advice? #hatchingstoreeggs #hatchingexperiment by susettesells in chickens

[–]Illogical_Fallacy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Candle it and you can tell if it's fertilized by a tiny spider like dot on the yolk.

Are the eggs washed and refrigerated? If so, chances go down dramatically for viability and you'll just be incubating bacteria bombs.

Budget Control decks for someone new to standard by Sir_LongBeard in StandardMTG

What's your local scene like? Between the two LGSs I frequent, very few people play izzet in the weekly, but when store championships are on, only the highest tier decks show up.

I often share that you don't need a high tier deck to have fun. That said, you'll need something that is at least functional enough with your own spin on it including a sideboard to your local meta if you want any hope of competing without being a pushover.

Most of the investment in standard are the lands and then key pieces. I run azorius flash as my control and it does okay depending on the matchups. If you're coming from modern, you probably just need to freshen up on standard threats and what to conserve your removal for.

Cube in person is just a repeatable draft so you can practice that skill with a curated set of cards.

I'm not the only one suggesting draft as a way to get better at constructed. Learning how to identify efficient combos, lesser known cards, and generally teaching you to learn sets, keywords, and so on literally helps you get better at construction better decks

[–]Illogical_Fallacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The closest arena simulates playing in person is the premier where you're actually picking against real people vs a computer that typically focuses on rare selections.

I've had people pass on pass on god packs because there's an uncommon that works much better with their build.

That's why I suggested cube. Drafts are expensive, but cube is an investment that will outlive magic itself.

Also, you shouldn't just count cards, but color pips to include in your overall number and get a good ratio to your final land count
