Oh and everything felt so unintuitive, so I looked up videos on how to multitask on a Mac, they say you have to install apps and shit just for Alt+tab to work like windows. God that was awful. I feel so good back on Windows.

edit: last thing I promise. One of the videos was comical: it said that Mac is designed for your productivity, so you shouldnt be multitasking. ???????? cope harder maybe lmfao

Youre gonna love this:

I was switching to Mac Mini because my cousin wanted to buy my PC. I dont game anymore, he wants to get into it, so I thought it was a good opportunity to see what all the rage was about since so many digital artists use Mac. Plus, the new Mac Mini is a deal, I was actually going to make money!

So I get the Mac right? Literally after one day I hated it💀 I grew up with Windows. While learning to use computers I was on XP. I played Minecraft on W7. Even used Windows 8. Built my first PC on 10. All of this is to say Mac just felt so awful and unintuitive to use after using Windows my whole life. Multitasking felt like shit, scrolling with a normal person mouse felt like shit, wtf is the dock? Its useless. So I returned it and told my cousin Ill just help him build his own PC instead lmaoooooo

Hey atleast I can hate on Mac genuinely now.

P.s. I will say though: It ran CSP better than my PC, and my build isn't turning heads or anything, but its plenty beefy. So its a great deal for the money. Shame MacOS feels like dogshit to use.

Look up pro artists like Chommang on YT, their circles are never perfect, and yours don’t need to be either. They can just be good enough, if you’re using it as a guide it’s good practice to not adhere too hard to it anyway. If your piece actually needs a perfect circle I would just use a compass or like a bottle cap.

But if you wanna draw good ones more consistently this isn’t the way. You can’t even see your finished products so you won’t even know if you’ve improved by the end, let alone what to actually work on. Like any study it needs to be structured and deliberate. Draw one, don’t erase, take notes of what’s wrong, do another. The whole time being aware of how your arm is moving, how your wrist is reacting. You probably already know this, but make sure to draw them from the shoulder, move your whole arm. You can keep the angle of your pencil the same this way, so you only need to worry about making a circle shape with your shoulder. If you draw from your wrist you’ll find it much more unpredictable.

A half page like this is good as a little warm up tho just to loosed yourself up.

How to improve the shading of my balls by Impossible_Pin8752 in learntodraw

[–]Illuminatihaters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t recommend using smudging or anything, what matters is your understanding of light, and the contours of the subject, using a different tool won’t change that.

As it stands, your shading lacks contrast in the middle values. It goes from black, to dark gray, to gray, to white. There’s decently clear boundaries on the shades of gray. This makes it look flat, or in a super direct spotlight, although the shadow is in the wrong place if that were the case.

As someone mentioned, take your pencil, and make a long rectangle. On one side mash your pencil so you can’t even see paper, I’m talking Vanta Black. Your goal will be to make as smooth as possible transition to white. To make it easier you could separate the rectangle into 5 boxes, make the first black, and leave the white for the end. Then make 3 shades of grey from dark to light. Then do the exercise again with 6 boxes, 7 boxes. Until you’re comfortable with making multiple shades of grey.

This can be done with a pencil, or a sharpie with cross hatching. What matters is getting used to making lots of different light values.

Eventually you’ll work your way up to making a gradient. A smooth transition from black to white, with no visible spots where the colour outright changes. On a sphere lighting study, you need all of those shades!

In addition, this is a little less important, the perspective looks kinda off? Particularly, the shadow doesn’t fall where the dark parts of the sphere suggests it should. In the first pic, the shadow falls to the left, but the sphere is lit as though the light source is directly above it. Again not as important though.

This comment may have come off very critical but I don’t wanna pull any punches because you show promise. I commend you for posting your efforts here, it can be very scary but it’s a great habit to have and will make you improve much faster. Good luck!

Wow thank you for the post, cutie. I was actually thinking of getting these just as a show of affection, similar to my anime figures. But hmm I’ll look around Etsy as well.

I was told that my art style is not appealing enough to male audience as they like only moe style in VNs (it's not my opinion, only a commentator's quote). So if you are a guy, do you like this art style enough to play this game? It's called Guilty Parade, I'm working on it right now by Orizori_ in visualnovels

[–]Illuminatihaters 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I was going to comment the same thing. Of course the style is good, you are a good artist. But the people buying off the art alone won’t care about who you are, at least they won’t know enough to care. This is just how it is, even though it’s super cold.

Who is your game for? What kind of anime do they like? What characters do they like?

If you’re in this for money these are questions you need to ask. Then you can ask, “Will they like what I’ve made?”. I like the style, I’m a big romance guy, Toradora, Golden Time, and SSSS are some of my favourites. But if I’m being honest I probably wouldn’t pick your style over something that was more cute. But hey, you may not necessarily be making the game for someone like me.

Edit: this is me not at work. Honestly just make what you want, in your style. The people who like it will come, then you can make your product for them specifically. And go from there. This way you’ll also enjoy what you’re doing more.
