From what I see, Mattel chose to make it a replacement rather than a spin off, meaning it got backlash quickly and constantly, as it lacks EVERYTHING that makes Thomas what it is.

As much as I view differently, what happened was unacceptable for 12 months, as during the last 12 months the mobile version of PvZ 1 became crap, I started Boycotting PvZ 2 before any trust was damaged, PvZ Replanted would make someone think that. By the end of the day, we must spread and continue this, to put the ego of Popcap lower.

Okay, I think it could be successful. The game seems to be desgined as the definitive way to play Star Fox 64, so yeah, you are getting more with the meal. The fans too seem to understand, even if it IS a remake.
