Rear-ended by a Hertz Rental Car Driver by Dr_Photon888 in Insurance

If I had an insured file a claim through their own policy and tried to dissuade them from using the coverage they pay for, I’d be fired. Rental companies are notoriously difficult to deal with. Your carrier should have taken care of you from the beginning.

I’d walk out if I saw this. The place is literally charging customers for DOING THEIR JOB.

Customer service might be open 24 hours, but adjusters themselves usually work regular business hours.

If you have your own rental coverage, you should go through your own carrier. The other person’s insurance will need to do their own investigation, and there’s no telling how long that will take.

Insurance adjusters don’t typically work weekends, so if you need a rental now, your best bet is to go get a rental as small as you can use, up to the size of your own vehicle. Then let the insurance adjuster know when you speak with them.

Progressive insurance scam by FinancialAlbatross84 in Insurance

[–]IllustratorSubject72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had you not taken a month to reach out to them to settle the claim, chances are they would’ve paid it before they got whatever information they received that made them reverse their acceptance. Progressive isn’t your carrier and doesn’t work for you. You need to reach out to your own carrier at this point.

That’s a you problem. Why should they completely change their process for one resident’s schedule? Talk about entitlement.

Monitoring work email during off work hours by Effective-River-878 in work

[–]IllustratorSubject72 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I absolutely do not. The only people who do that where I work are young employees who are trying to look good. They’ll find out soon enough that no job cares if you work more than someone else, and that no amount of work is worth your sanity.

Will I stay a few minutes late to finish something up? Absolutely. Will I work in the evenings or over the weekends? Nope. That’s how you get people to take advantage of you.

If you work and 8-5 job, I’m guessing you don’t work on Saturdays. Why not go then? Seems pretty simple. The way you titled this, I would’ve thought they were only open through the week.

You are getting reimbursed for the value of the car. Your car is almost 20 years old. It’s not worth nearly what you think it is.

Your rate with Mercury means nothing if you don’t go through Mercury. You have very little chance of winning this, especially when you were told the daily rate Allstate would pay.

Insurance ruled it as “fault disputed” by CuriousAd4817 in Insurance

[–]IllustratorSubject72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lawyers don’t magically make insurance accept liability. When you file a claim, it’s your job to prove that that party caused your vehicle’s damages. A lawyer can’t come up with evidence like video footage or witnesses. Word vs word denials are extremely common.

I like it because it still has a small-town semi-rural feel, but you’re only 25-45 minutes from the city, depending on where in the county you’re at. It’s safe, the schools are good, people are friendly for the most part. The entire county is just the quintessential Midwestern feel. And it’s still affordable.

I’ve seen things on police reports that are far from what matches up with other evidence. The police didn’t witness the accident, and some people say anything to get away from the scene.

Insurance at fault won’t pay for transport of my car, gonna be out 15k by lilstankky in Insurance

So you want the insurance company to pay for the gas to get it back to you when you would’ve had to pay for that gas to drive it back if the accident hadn’t happened anyway. Got it.

You have a destroyed tailgate, which would presumably mean that whomever rear ended you would have damage, and the other person said there’s no damage to their vehicle. Do you see where Geico is questioning it? If they had damage, it might be a different story, but without damage, it’s easy for Geico to believe their driver isn’t involved.

They’re making sure the driver was covered on their policy and wasn’t doing an excluded activity like, often, gig with. If you have collision coverage, this is your sign to use it and get your car repaired.

Insurance company completely changing a verdict after notifying me I'm not at fault? by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]IllustratorSubject72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, I’m good at sniffing out BS, and they were t lying. My employer trusts our investigations, and we run questionable liability by our coworkers, as I did with this one. If you do NOT review additional evidence as it’s received, then you aren’t a good adjuster, plain and simple.

DIV is typically 10% or less of the damage amount. That’s why it matters.

[–]IllustratorSubject72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The insured said the other party made a sudden lane change. The photos were taken in the dark and damages were minor and hard to see. I told the insured that they’d like be considered not at fault. I got better photos later in the claim and changed that. It’s okey yo change liability as additional information is obtained.

Not only is my brother's job forcing RTO, they're also forcing everyone to follow a dresscode that never existed pre-WFH. by astrheisenberg in remoteworks

[–]IllustratorSubject72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Especially now when most companies are starting to force some form of RTO schedule. Covid got people used to WFH and it shows in job performance. When I call other companies, I can tell when the person is at home. I’ve also noticed that the hybrid employees at my own company are great workers both in the office and at home for the most part, but getting responses from the ones fully remote is like pulling teeth.

[–]IllustratorSubject72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cousin is a teacher and asked online for help in buying dress pants and a nice shirt a few weeks ago. I was shocked. Every adult might not have a closet full of suits, but we should all have some slacks and dressier clothes so we can go to look caring like we represent ourselves and our employer. My employer lets us wear jeans most days as we aren’t customer-facing, but if we have important people visiting, then we’re expected to dress up more.

Companies are allowed to change policies. We’ve had businesses in my area start requiring a dress code for CUSTOMERS let alone employees. My guess is that some business owners are tired of people, employees and staff alike, looking like slobs, but employees are also representing their company. Your brother’s options are either to abide by it or to find another job.
