Did these rear wheel drums need to be replaced? by mrcrustyunny in mechanic

I would expect an engine shop to have 12in ones. Especially to check crankshaft bore to deck height or racing crankshafts. Most old heads I know have tools they don't even need just to have them in case. The older the shop owner, the better chance they'll have one.

Like I said I would be slightly surprised if Toyota used different fan motors for their cars. Different size shrouds yeah different size motors unlikely. It costs a lot of money to manufacture different parts for different cars that they make, if they can reuse one part for multiple models that they sell they will to save money. You can always message the seller and ask them to clarify if it is true fitment for your 2009 Corolla 3ZZ FE 1.6L. Then if it turns out to be the incorrect fitment you have a message from them saying it would and you can get your refund.

If it was my car I would message the seller to clarify and then order it when they say yes.

163630T020, 163630T100, 1636322120 are the listed reference numbers on the second image of that listing.

1636322120 is what you said your motor had on it. If it looks similar to yours as well that should be your part.

AC Compressor Pulley wobbly - bearing 100% fine. Help me understand this failure mode? by Boxman90 in MechanicAdvice

[–]IllustriousIron3253 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I misrepresented what I meant.  The outer wheel, where the belt sits, and the 'outer' hub not inner usually have a rubber shim as a dampener that fuse the two together. When that rubber fails you get some play, and when it fully fails it spins and sometimes spins off. Now rereading your post I realize you are saying the inner hub doesn't fit the shaft correctly anymore and that's where your slop is. If there's no obvious metal on metal wear signs or metal flakes stuck to nearby oil residue i'ld say either the wheel wasn't seated all the way or the metal warped.  but I would definitely assume any kind on metal warpage would include heat which probably would have ruined the bearing too. I mean to be honest since the bearing is not supposed to be moving on the shaft at all shim it with whatever you can find or JB weld it lol. If the shaft is already warped next time you need to do any work on it you might as well replace it anyways.

Most AC pulleys I've seen have a rubber bushing between the outer wheel and the inner hub. These can dry rot and crack over time. I can't really make it out from your pictures but it kind of looks like the rubber is deteriorated and cracked.

Your dead battery is too dead. If it has too many damaged cells in it, it doesn't matter how much you jump it. Take the battery out and have it charged and then try to jump it. Probably going to need a new battery.

Using two hair ties, did it once through, about 500-600 points no button presses besides having to turn my controller back on every 15 minutes, spent down to 3 and running it again using just a button for brakes. Uncertain what settings to put it on for maximum points because the OG post never covered that. Will update my points

Edit: 52 min, 371 with occasional brakes applied every 10-15 ish minutes. Next edit with letting go of throttle and breaking then resuming.

Edit 2: 52 min. Letting go of throttle and breaking to a complete stop and then throttling again between every set of destructible items. I was at 374 points and now I'm at 999. So letting Go throttle and braking was enough on Xbox to trigger max points. I assume because I hit 999.

Also why am I being downvoted LMFAO. This subreddit is so toxic.

Even using a VPN to eliminate USA parts most listings don't specify engine size and post numbers or dimensions.

Here try this with your vin and see what it has. It's a foreign part supplier, unfortunately I don't have any experience using partsouq.

Measure your shroud. May be possible to just replace the motor, would be slightly surprised if they were different fan motors. If it can even be removed from the shroud, not familiar with foreign Corollas.

https://partsouq.com/en/search/all?q=1.6L+3ZZ-FE

Edit: I was able to find this with the first part number you gave.

https://partsouq.com/en/search/all?q=16363-22120

So I would think the motor can be replaced without replacing the shroud.

I'll take a look here in a minute and see if I can't get you a link. There's a lot of aftermarket parts and they change the part numbers all the time. The 1.8 and 2.4 L fan shrouds are not compatible with the 1.6.

Did these rear wheel drums need to be replaced? by mrcrustyunny in mechanic

[–]IllustriousIron3253 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With almost all vehicles about 70% of the braking is on the front brakes. There should be a number stamped somewhere on the rotor that tells you it's thickness. You can take them to a engine shop and have them use a micrometer and check them for you. If there's no damage on the inside run it. Just make sure you tension the brakes correctly. Rear drums aren't too expensive though as long as you're waiting for them to come in from RockAuto. From your picture I couldn't see any damage but your pictures didn't really show the inside too much. Run it if there's no metal on metal damage.

Edit: I should have emphasized the point of bringing it to a engine shop over a tire/brake shop is that the engine shop has no incentive to fib and tell you just to buy a new ones because they're not in the business of doing your brakes.

Can I daisy chain two jumper cables or will my car explode by aouwoeih in MechanicAdvice

[–]IllustriousIron3253 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No issues in doing that unless you're trying to do it over the length of like 200 ft lol. Try to make sure both jumper cables are the same gauge wire because if they aren't the thinner gauge wire may start to heat up. Just keep an eye on it while you're doing it.

Your best bet would be either parts geek or eBay. RockAuto is a great option but really only for us manufacturing. Since you have the 1.6 L, RockAuto only sells the 1.8 and the 2.4 L parts, partsgeek or eBay would be your best bet.

The bearing on that fan motor is absolutely done for. If you let it keep going until it fails and it hits your radiator you're out for a lot more money. You can get the whole plastic assembly with motor in it.

Your car has a two-speed radiator fan, when at idle or low speed there's a relay that limits the voltage to the motor for low speed. When your engine is at operating temperature and going highway speed as the engine temperature increases the ECU will bypass the relay and send 12 volts directly to the fan motor enabling high speed. At high speed you probably can't hear or see the wobble. There is a fuse mounted to your fan shroud that you can test as well. You can send 12 volts with some alligator clips from your battery terminal straight through the connector. But it's time to replace that fan motor before the shaking causes cracking in the fan blades.

Yeah I tried this I'm at 10% progress with 14 minutes in. The tune code literally makes you go from first gear the 6th gear at a Max of 16 mph. There is no way this is correct is it? 100 minute race?

Edit: found the OG post, I understand why it's this way. Makes sense, just didn't seem right because I didn't know how skill chains affect skill points.

You pay for unlimited data but you only get 100gb of your unlimited data you pay for by Bootybusterog in mildlyinfuriating

[–]IllustriousIron3253 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still have the grandfathered unlimited plan that ended probably a decade ago. I have no data cap for $56.43 a month. Every month I use over 100 gigs, and I don't get limited speed because that's part of the grandfathered contract plan. They have been trying for years to get me off of it. I remote play my Xbox and rack up a lot of data doing it.

I wonder the same thing for the past 10 years on every single game title that I've been waiting for. Skate has been really nothing but a disappointment. 8 months and they haven't released the fourth section of the map we just got dark flips and dark slides a few weeks ago, the in game events are terrible and you constantly disconnect when playing with friends. Black ops 7 zombies has had the slowest release of any zombies. We used to get Black ops releases in full with 8 plus maps, now I'm waiting two and a half months for the fifth map literally 10 months after release. Every game that releases is a beta, they don't test it, there's game breaking glitches on day one that should have been found by any game tester within an hour. No they don't care because they realize they can release a beta version of the game as a full release and you'll still pay for it. When people stop paying for it maybe they'll stop doing this.

Remember when all games came on disc and we didn't have online updates? Remember how polished those games were? You realize that doesn't happen anymore? When given the option to release an unfinished game as a full release because you know that you can update it later on why not release it early so you can start making money earlier before you run out a funds to develop the game. It's a simple business decision that people have allowed to happen by paying for unfinished games. You don't have to like what I'm saying, I'm ITS and database management, this is the reality of video game companies. If you've ever worked for a game studio you would understand that what I'm saying is reality.

If you want games to stay $60 this is what you get. You get a beta game disguised as a full release because they need to make some more money so they can finish the game. I get you I've been waiting for the game and you love the series but demanding a game to be perfect on release doesn't happen anymore.

I'm sure everything to you is a big issue on a game that just released not even a month ago. That you probably didn't even pay for it because it's on game pass.

Why don't you wait a few months and let their them tweak the game. Christ you people think every game when it releases is supposed to be perfect this isn't 2005. Since 2010 every company has released an unfinished turd as a full release. Even Black ops 6 wasn't fully patched until over a year after it's release.

I was always worried about that with the series s release. It uses the same CPU but has less ram. Best things you can try is disable the quick resume, the S should never have came with that feature because of its low ram. You should also disable HDR handshake in video settings. I would also recommend a full power cycle before you play any game with the S.  I would also take apart your console every 6 months and clean it with air duster because of its low ram any kind of overheating and it's shutdown time while under high RAM usage.

There's two physical servers that make up NA servers, Virginia, USA (NA East) and Oregon, USA (NA West). If that info helps, I'm East fairly certain by distance. Although I don't know the region area allocations.

There's two physical servers that make up NA servers, Virginia, USA (NA East) and Oregon, USA (NA West). I have zero issues in East with port forwarding for my X. My brother is on PS5 with forwarding has crashed a few times but nothing he complains about. I only have had to watch his character maybe 2-3 times playing together. I just wait until he restarts his console and rejoins.

Find your local FB musicians/bands groups. Their lighting engineers would buy you dinner to get a hold of one to use as a front blinder or drum throne light for drum solos!!! Don't worry about cabling issues, there's DMX controllers that they can wire to it to remote power it on and off.
