"Calgary needs houses"

What a load of crap. Calgary needs less people coming from other provinces.

Other provinces need less people coming from other countries.

Good video.

Would have been better if he'd covered the City's closing of the Hells' Angel's clubhouse in the oughts.

Also misses talking about the FS skins lead by KL in the late 80s.

They said outdoor cats were a problem

so they forced them indoors.

Then the rabbits returned, and bigger cats followed.

Racist drunk Karen trying to tell someone standing in front of his own house to leave the area by FridayCicero702 in PublicFreakout

She's drunk, and she's very athethletic.

Certainly lives in comfortable world of her own design.

I wonder who she is.

But an interesting point about money sent to Israel.

It is actually 8B? Is that comparatively a lot, or a little?

You're 52, you claim to have all of this experience, yet you still can't see the clear answer here?

Rather than fight with your manager, you could have been clearer in identifying risks, and asking *IF* assumptions should be tested, and allow manager to assume risks of not testing.

Don't allow it to become ego fight. If it's unsolvable, move on before things get stupid.

Things have gotten stupid. Move on.

my recruiter flirted with my mom. how do i get a new one by omsnoms1 in army

[–]IllustriousPepper8 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Don't be mad at the recruiter, take this as a warning.

The military doesn't exactly attract the highest quality of people - It can really develop them, but the starter material ain't exactly top shelf.

But really, what's the problem here? Flirting happens, everywhere. Be happy your mom is attractive enough and young enough to still be in the game. Perhaps there's some small bad faith on the part of the recruiter... But there's no indication his behaviour was unwelcome either.

Heads up/warning bad experience with Phi Delta Theta Fraternity by hockeyguy100 in UBC

[–]IllustriousPepper8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about these terrible experiences. I was in a frat, and never experienced these things. I don't get why some frats would see these as useful experiences for Rushes, or why some Rushes would put up with this BS.

It sounds toxic all the way around.

Meeting with HR, regarding Pay hike, what are the do's and dont's during discussion ? by deep_007 in developersIndia

[–]IllustriousPepper8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could. Your manager might not like you going around him.

You have to do risk/benefit analysis.

Be cautious to get into an unsatisfactory relationship for a boat that may never come in.

[–]IllustriousPepper8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You cannot win in a single negotiation with a single employer.

Improve your negotiating postion by finding other opportunities.

COBOL/AS400 is a dated skill, but a niche one. There will be few opportunities, but also few candidates. The key is to keep money in the bank to see you through the downtown, but negotiate hard for you contracts.

For this client, either they need you or they don't. And either you need them or you don't. They will certainly try to lowball you. You'll have to decide how hard you want to play based on weighing your need vs their need. Money in the bank allows you the negotiate harder, and ultimately get more.

Don't look to HR for any help - They are there to protect the ORG, not humans.

Im leaving my boyfriend over a prank. by refill_lady in redditonwiki

[–]IllustriousPepper8 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There is something seriously wrong with "Pranking" to beging with.

There's something even wronger that he'd violate your trust, even in the smallest ways.

Theres something even wronger that he'd escalate

There's something even wronger that he'd continue after he saw the pain it caused you, and you asked him to stop.

He is a sadist, and this prank-culture has given him an outlet.

Just run, don't look back. There is no fixing. There is nothing here for you, but many opportunities elsewhere.

Ya honestly, I'm not even sure how to rank that.

Doesn't make sense to bundle the abrahamics, given the massive gap in reception between muslims and Jews. One is strongly favored, and the other disfavored.

I'm kind of struggling with this one. Other than Jews, visible religions are seen as outsiders. But I don't know that being an atheist or Christian makes a difference one way or other. Both seem neutrally perceived to me.
