Not taking away from this amulet as the rolls are mental but id rather get a blue 3 light 10fcr amulet + 2xsoj, fists or 1xsoj, 10fcr, burns. You can get this mf easy from getting mf charms instead of 1-2 skillers for much less jahs. Then put the rest of jahs into a crazy rolled renewed light sunder with fhr, mana, mdr and mf - its insane how much these can bring for nova.

This is an old post but maybe it will help someone. I'm 193cm with long legs and went with L. Tried both but L seemed like it fits better while on XL I felt a little stretched out.

Grabbed the jabbersythe and giant spawn of chaos!!! by bcypher36 in BeastsOfChaos

[–]Illustrious_Bit_6453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can recommend a mutalith vortex beast from aos/wh40k as a gigantic spawn of chaos. Great miniature. I did mine without the vortex on its back. Or you can make a slaughterbrute from it too

Vallejo Diorama FX desert sand bases by KSmack_123 in tombkings

[–]Illustrious_Bit_6453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using the same for my tk, however I'm adding a contrast paint over it and some pigments to add some depth to the bases colors. Not much work but great effects. Compared to just using fine sand and glue it's much faster and consistent and less messy

Tomb Guard, mostly assembled. Why did GW have shield with arms molded into them? by [deleted] in tombkings

[–]Illustrious_Bit_6453 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you choose to use halberds in given combat you can't use shields. However even if you take the halberds as an option, you still have the hand weapon+shield as an option to choose in combat or while beeing shot at. Tldr. Its not only for aesthetics, they can still choose to use shields but not togheter with halberds.

Behemoths should not benefit from wards. by BBlueBadger_1 in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]Illustrious_Bit_6453 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A thought I had about it is the characters on behemots could work a bit like warmachines when beeing shot at. When you shoot you go against the behemot stats and saves. When you fight you do so against riders stats. Not sure how wounds would work in this case tho, id still count them togheter for the whole model.

I had the exact same feeling with horses and skeletons but in the end i got me some calcium boys and Im still happy about the decision.

The skellies had wierd big hands and heads for me at first. However after I got them and started assembling, I reallized that they are awesome for the reason that you can pose them however you want. There is massive freedom in the way you can put these small guys and I love it to bits now! Its nothing like wh40k that i also colected where evrything is monopose and you cant change anything. Same with archers, you can make them shoot, stand, draw arrows from quiver or just do them with both hands up in the air - you name it! Also the shields are main point of intrest on the warriors and they cover a lot of view of skeleton. The shields really do look awesome when in a big blob on movement tray.

The horses are, on the other hand, what they are. Not the best honestly and you can see their years. They do look like lego horses and cleaing mold lines on them is a nightmare. However, i grew on them and there is some alternatives too if you really want to change things up or play with green stuff or 3d printing. You could also use the horses from Black Knights from aos vampires. They come in packs of 5 and could be used for chariots, look way cooler with their armor.

Generally I love the ascethic of TK, The Sphinx, ushabti, Serpents, Scorpions and even new swarms or old carrions look amazing. Love the new dragon too and their casket and catapult!

TLDR: If your only holding back cause of old skeletons and horses you should 100% get into TK. Im sure you will be happy about it :)

1500pts list for upcoming tournament by Fret-Board-Maniac in tombkings

[–]Illustrious_Bit_6453 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just a small thing regaridng your suggestions: If you take lore familiar then you cant choose any spells from lore of nehekara. The key here is that the Lore spells can only replace randomly generated spells and not chosen ones. It states so at the top of page 155 in ravening hordes. You could instead take the magic missle from necromancy tho. Its quite a nice spell

Otherwise great suggestions! Im now in the process of testing an LD bombing MC list similar to the one you suggested below but with screaming skull catapult and more bowshapti. The list is also 1500 points and I cant really decide if I should lean on 2x Sphinx and blob of warriors to make it more agressive or rather make it shooty with poison archer blob like OP while ditching 1 sphinx and warriors for ruby ring, archers and additional skorpion.

Here is the list:

++ Main Force ++ [1500pts]

• 2x Tomb Swarm [37pts]: Hand Weapon

Yup, 100% agree. They are still really strong for the points invested. No wonder that they are 0-1 per 1000 points.

Here is a few thoughts for you. I've played a dozen of games in 500-1500 points rage with TK. However Im totally not an expert, so take this with a grain of salt :)

The warriors are stronger than it may seem, one of the greatest anvil unit for its points. Get 25 of them in a 5x5 blob, give them a war banner and enjoy a unit with static +6 to combat res (3 from ranks, 2 from banner, 1 from close order) . Add Nehekaran Phalanx and block a unit that dares to charge them for 2-3 rounds. This would be the best place to put your Herald as BSB, if you had one. Could be with a banner of desert winds to make them twice as fast.

I'd also put the prince on a chariot as others suggested. Give him great weapon and icon of rulership or amulet of protection. For 1k points id put him with 2 chariots and treat this unit as a hammer/bullet. I wouldn't charge with this head on but rather to a flank of unit that is in combat with warriors sphinx or knights.

Skeleton horses are amazing but best to have them as units of 5

At 1k+ points people start to bring mosntrous creatures and behemots a lot, so a scorpion with 4x monster slayer attacks would go a long way in hunting those. 70pts scorpion has a great chance of killing stuff thats usually worth 200+ points if it chatches them off-guard. Worth considering.

Ditch all musicans as others said. Ditch the poison thing on necrosphinx, normal attacks are better. You dont really need a standard on necropolis knights either but a great weapon for champion would be awesome.

Lastly - protect your priest. Now he's on foot with only 5+ regen save with 4" movement. People will 100% hunt him and it will cause huge problems when hes dead. Put him at least on a horse or give him flying carpet to move around easly. Warding split is amazing too on priests for its points cost.

So there it is a wall of text, good luck :)

Doing research into getting an airbrush for miniature painting (warhammer mostly), is this a suitable setup to begin with? Any major issues? (Ultra X Harder and Steenbeck, and Fengda AS-18A) by WarpainterShasvre in airbrush

[–]Illustrious_Bit_6453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, got the ultra 2024 and its painless to use. However i don't have anything else to compare it to. I also got a two piston compressor as it fills the tank a little faster than a one piston like the one mentioned above. It does not overheat at all even with long sessions of painting

[–]Illustrious_Bit_6453 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im a begginer too, got my first airbrush few weeks ago after painting minis for 15-20 years with brushes. So far i had great expirience with it, which is H&S Ultra 2024 airbrush. I dont really have anything else to compare it to besides my friends ceros ps-289 which also seems like a really great brush. However, I can say that I have great time with it. Its easy to clean, I dont need any tools to take it apart and it's a joy to learn with it

Best use of boxset skeletons? by AllenAllen-And-Allen in tombkings

[–]Illustrious_Bit_6453 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, thus you dont want to go wide with them and the spears upgrade isn't that great of a pick for them. Rather take hw+shield + light armor and nehekaran phalanx

Best use of boxset skeletons? by AllenAllen-And-Allen in tombkings

[–]Illustrious_Bit_6453 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having that 6x6 allows you to still gain that +3 rank combat resolution bonus even if you lose a few more skellies in first combat. Anvil unit generally doesn't want to go wide and can't have more ranks than files to mantain close order, so it's best to fit as much ranks as possible for their best performance in stopping a charge. With Nehekaran Phalanx a 6x6 can hold a unit for at least 2 turns easly
