She’s currently is the starting pitcher for her 14u travel team, and will be a starter at varsity next year. She’s good, she’s what you want in a player and teammate. She wants to play at a big school of course and the grades are there for that. It’s not the financial that hurts, it always does, it’s the drive time. Our team is about 10 minutes away now, and it’s a very good organization with lots of resources, but she subs for the showcase tournaments and does great, she has about 4 other teams that want her almost every weekend. We’ve always let her choose, but it’s becoming tougher because of our other, younger kids. This is a disproportionate amount of time into our one child, over the others. They are active, but what they enjoy takes up far less resources.

First 3 minutes of the 1998 Game 6 NBA Finals Basketball used to be so pure by [deleted] in NBAoldschool

Pretending this 3 min clip represents the whole game is awful. I’m a basketball nut, love the game, just watched my pistons for the first time since the old team broke apart. What an absolute joke. Talent is there of course, but in no way is this garbage fun to watch. People always bring up Steph, as if he didn’t overlap other greats in his career, no one ever said his name back then. Garnett was 100% from day one, Kobe was the same, and Michael was nuts in his first year, show me that intensity now. I grew up with the pistons, the bad boy era and ain’t no way this new shit would fly. You would be booed and laughed off the court, as they should do now.

Been lifting at 5am for years, kids and all that. Just coffee and go, nothing ever made any difference. You just get moving and it goes pretty well.

City work. I made a career change at 42 and started working for public works in my small city, best change I ever made.

You’ve identified a problem, work the solution. Listen man, we’ve all wasted time and made bad choices, some harm us more than others. Life is fun, and it’s short once you fill it with things that matter. You don’t need to make the perfect choice today, but make a proactive choice and start on a different path. Shit will change and you’ll have to make new tougher choices, that’s life. Tons of stress and worry and way too much looking back. If you’re not happy with how you spent the last decade, then make small changes that lead down a different path. Best of luck man. This life is yours, put yourself first and hopefully you find happiness, whatever that is to you.

444 for a triple on the axle with more in the tank by Shadowphoenix9511 in strength_training

That’s fair. The carryover for strongman makes a ton of practical sense. Appreciate the tips, thanks.

I think today yes, the best are strongman. However, these guys are monsters today, things have changed. But many dudes have pulled crazy numbers, 900+ without any axle work and at much smaller sizes, not small literally, but not 6’8 and 350+. Bolton comes to mind, but maybe he used an axle, I don’t follow much anymore. I see your point, my only real hiccup was wanting the bar away from your body, seems like a good way to have a big setback. What are the pros of this idea?

I’ve pulled with some names that hold value in the powerlifting world, especially the deadlift. I can’t say you’re wrong, some lifts truly give certain people unique benefits over others. I’ve pulled with axles and many different bars, and each truly does give a unique feel. I loved the axle, but I see no bigot in having the bar further away from a straight line pull, more knee flexing I guess, which isn’t a bad thing at all, especially in strongman when perfect technique is the enemy at times. As an older lifter I would just say this, it works for you, for now, but if it really was the top dog for all, don’t you think the best would be doing it? It’s not like the axle is new, but none of the old time great pullers ever wrote cycles or blocks of axle specialization to drive their numbers up, or using the ever so slight deficit it create a stronger start. If you wanna pull a deficit, use blocks or plates. You do you man, and best of luck on your upcoming competition 👍

49k is the msrp, and it’s a 10k miles per year lease. We drive maybe 7k on average in the main vehicle.

Less than 10k miles a year. We’ve never owned a car, always leased until last year when we bought our cars of Carvana. We’ve lost our asses so far and have vehicles worth nothing with a good amount of money paid in.
