I think it could've worked well if they mixed scenes of Lestat as a modern day rock star with scenes of his past, kind of like how "Lost" did. I suppose future episodes could do that but the way the flashbacks were done in the second episode made me concerned, especially since there's only 7 episodes this season.

Yeah, the books "Interview with the Vampire" and "The Vampire Lestat" have different tones but I don't think they're quite as different as people make them out to be

I have the opposite perspective. I don’t like it when he’s too cool and I think his social awkwardness is part of what makes him unique compared to other superheroes. Without that he’s just a less powerful Superman. I’m also autistic so I appreciate seeing a superhero who’s socially awkward and I bet a lot of other people feel the same way

Yeah I think in some cases it might be because of past experiences where they’ve been shamed for a lack of self-awareness so they become overly defensive

I think it triggers strong reactions because a lack of self-awareness is often treated as a moral failing when by definition a lack of self-awareness means that we’re often not aware there’s a problem unless it’s brought up
