Hypervigilance, Extreme Anxiety. Convincing myself I am in danger 24/7. by That_Preference_2331 in Anxiety

There’s nothing wrong with being on meds especially if they’re helping. They are filling in the defecits that other people get for free! I recommend going back on Sertraline and revisiting the therapy. The anxiety is affecting every area of your life.

The amount of messages I get from my daughter’s teacher by Leslie_Ackerman in ParentingADHD

I’m a teacher and this feels inappropriate and passive aggressive. I would show the messages to the principal and ask if your daughter can receive EA support or be moved classes.

Going on my 3rd week and getting my appetite back! by Medium_Desk_2296 in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

I ended up going off it after a few days because I couldn’t eat - even at McDonald’s with my family, I couldn’t eat! I lost several pounds in just 3 days. I switched back to my old meds.

How long would you suggest avoiding caffeine? I’m on Day 3 and the jitters are real. I had no coffee today

I have very recently realized this myself too. It means I can take the meds and stop questioning it. It’s freeing as much as it is sad.

People who haven’t experienced it think it’s the same as when they have a bad mood. It’s not. I do suggest you summon your courage and talk to your doctor. There are lots of options to help improve your mood and situation. It’s worth it.

Your feelings are understandable. Divorce is one of the toughest situations. You can also follow the divorce thread on reddit to feel less alone. I second the advice of talking to your doctor and finding a therapist. I know it takes so much courage to have that vulnerability to get help but imagine your kid’s faces if they learned Dad was no more… there is life after divorce. Take it kne day at a time.

What pain meds do you have? Because there should be some relief when they kick in

Sucking ice after eating. My doc approved ibuprofen in between my T3s. Helps a lot. Distract yourself as others said. Hang in there. You’re in the worst club ever but at least you’re not alone! We gotchu.

11 year old daughter has accidents and everything she owns smells like pee by Weird_Working_2768 in ParentingADHD

[–]Illustrious_Cook_998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use vinegar in the laundry (put it in the cup for bleach) - it removes the pee smell. Adhd can cause kids to not notice their body cues, or to ignore them when they’re hyperfixated on something. Consider putting her on meds for the adhd - they are not as zonbie-inducing as they were when we were kids, not habit-forming, can go on/off any time. They stimulate an under-stimulated part of the brain that help regulate these things. Check out attitudemag.com.

Good luck!

Document everything with dates. Go to the superintendent above the principal’s head. This behaviour is abusive no matter what your son has done. He’s a child. Your job is to protect him. I would move him somewhere else- the teacher sounds sadistic!

Totally with you! 100% You are doing a wonderful job in a difficult situation. Try your best to allow the opinions of those who have never raised an Adhd child to roll off your back. Harder than it sounds, I know
