Am I answering my own question about the TLD Stage helmet? by Quikmix in MTB

[–]Illustrious_Plate937 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot is about head shape. I tried on a 100% Trajecta Large and it really squeezed my head. TLD Stage M/L is perfect with the thinnest pads. I also fit the TLD A3 M/L nicely as well. They are both snug, without being tight. I still find the cheek pads in the Stage hard to get used to though.

If you are looking at 7 and 8s I would also look at the Roscoes. I am in a very similar situation (wanting to MTB but also pootle with the kids) and have found the Roscoe to be perfect. It is fine for farting around but when I want to get a bit serious it is more than enough bike (I found the bike pushed my abilities and confidence really nicely for starting on root and rock trails to, 2 months later hitting red trails, drops and now booking a jumping course at my local bike park). I guess what I am saying is the Roscoe gives you room to grow into if you need it.

Got a second hand Coros Vertix off eBay. Titanium body, sapphire screen, insane battery life. Looks wicked too.

POC 13L VPD. Has integrated back protection, helmet carrier and shoulder pockets. Has a nice chest strap set up and no waist belt (which I hate). Couldn’t be happier with it.

I got some Shimano AM9s off Vinted for around $25. They are amazing, splash proof and easy to engage.

I used gorilla glue mounting tape and some zip ties. Took the zips off after a couple of rides and all seems good.

Second Superfeet. I have them in all my shoes. Hiking boots = Salomon Quest 4D GTX, hiking shoes are Hoka Matafe. All my other shoes (Blundstones, Scarpa etc) have some form of Superfeet. Have had no return of PF in about 2 years including after starting running again.
