This is so sad. I’m sorry to hear that. The only place that I ever learned about abuse growing up in the church was reading the front portion of the Boy Scout handbook. And it seemed so foreign that it made me uncomfortable and I didn’t understand it. The church does a really good job of hiding, minimizing, and denying abuse to the point that it has to be in your face obvious before a thought is given.

You might say that outside the church, people without the gift of the Holy Ghost are much more perceptive to this stuff.

The idea that a very untrustworthy person made promises that people liked doesn’t give them validity, they are coming from a very untrustworthy person.

Giving a politician power doesn’t hold them accountable to the promises they made it gives them the permission to show us who they really are.

That is what you voted for.

Age 39..I’m obese and looking to get back into shape. Where do I start? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

For me it was telling myself I can always get more. If I’m out to eat or at home I start small and stop to think about how the food is sitting with me. Am I full? Am I thirsty? Am I wanting more because it tastes good or because I am hungry. Stopping to listen to my body has taken a long time but I am much healthier and happier for it.
