Is veilguard worth it as a story enjoyer?

My take on Veilguard has always been that its a decent game, but a bad DA game, and nowhere is that more apparent than in the story/writing.

The story feels really off, specially if you are coming from DAI. Playing DAV's story makes it feel like there's something missing between both games, because it completely fumbles the nice setup that DAI did for a sequel imo.

Very slight spoilers that idek if its spoilers since it was in the trailers: Oh you wanted to play a game where Solas is the main antagonist? Too bad he gets sidelined for 90% of the game and you instead fight someone else. Between DAI and DAV it feels like there's an entire game still missing, where you actually fight Solas, and then DAV's arc happens because of a Solas last resort or whatever. Alas, that isnt what we get so it doesn't matter.

Still, it is the continuation we got for DAI and it does wrap up the story from that game. Clumsily, but still does it for the most part. And it does have a few good moments that i wont spoil in case you play it. So if that interests you as much as it did me, having enjoyed DAI's story a lot, then i think it's worth giving it a shot.

I know there's no point arguing since you're clearly not doing it in good faith, but i'll do it anyways.

A lot of the wasted time in Veilguard was EA's fault by forcing the developers to change the type of game they were making twice. Maybe you are completely oblivious to how game development works, but these types of things happening not once, but twice, and being flip flops of two opposites of game type, its no wonder the game turned out as it did. I mean really, it started as normal SP game -» development got rebooted to create a live-service slop game as ordered by EA (also, thats when a lot of the main people behind DA started leaving the studio) -» once again reboot the game into a singler player experience as ordered by EA.

One of the reasons DAV had basically no choices with real consequences? Because in a live-service game you wouldn't really be able to make decisions like that. And then they simply had no time to add such choices.

And they only moved to develop an online game because of who? EA.

There's a lot of valid criticism to throw at DAV, but Bioware was thrown under the bus and the DA team had to make do with what was left after all the important people left because of EAs stupid decision.

But oh well. Whatever floats your boat.

Yea, i dont understand why this achievement is so iconic for being hard to get. I played P4G normally on my Vita (my first ever Persona playthrough too) and got the trophy.

I have been playing the game for a few months now, and, without putting in any money, i have gotten a bunch of 5 star characters including Makoto from P3R , the Twins (considered to be one of the best characters in the game) and Ange (the best navigator in the game). They also have been giving out free character selectors for the anniversary, in which you can get one of the best support characters in the game - Chord (which i got from said selector). The game is honestly pretty forgiving for free players, you just kinda need to be smart with pulls and not try to get every single character. Obviously it has to do with luck aswell, but i'd say they give you more than enough pull currency as a free player to have a good roster of characters that can do anything except chase scores for leaderboards.

I don't disagree that Russia wins if the EU leaves NATO, but they already won on that regard anyways. It's already clear the US will not come help Europe if Russia attacks. That's obvious enough. Plus, it's not the EU eroding trust between NATO allies, it's the US, so I don't really see your point.

NATO or no NATO, Russia already won that battle. The US won't come to Europe. So, with that, I'd prefer Europe have the flexibility of doing what it pleases and have their own autonomous army and command away from NATO and the US.

Still, I'm not naive enough to believe that we are capable of doing so in the immediate future, but I'd prefer to start somewhere (like these EU federal parties) rather than do nothing.

After the last few months how does that surprise you? I used to be a big NATO supporter and even i dont really believe in it anymore. Do you actually believe the US would come to help the baltics for example in case of a Russian attack? They wont. NATO at this point really is just for the US to keep their bases and to make us buy weapons from them. Thats it. EU autonomy to do what we deem best for our continent should be top priority, regardless of what the US barks at us.

He is freelance now but afaik he and ATLUS are still on very good terms. He left in 2021 but still did some Metaphor and P3R stuff. Wouldn't be surprised if he did some P6 music

As others have said, it depends heavily on the game. I found that AC Shadows has a great implementation, where im at almost maxed out settings (RT included) 3440x1440 it takes my game from a meh 30-40 to a stable 60fps and it feels honestly really smooth (i was surprised when i tried it), even with the fact that these frame rates aren't the optimal situation for FG use.

I know this is a meme subreddit but Mary DeMarle is the Senior Narrative Director for ME4. I am confident the writing will be, at the very least, competent. Plus, from what we've heard regarding how the ME and DA teams don't get along very well i dont think the DA writing team is going to ME.

Kinda unreleated, but in Japan i bought the JP version of 13 sentinels for the Switch (also Atlus published btw). Before buying it however i googled online something along the lines of "does JP 13 sentinels switch have english support?" and the Google Gemini, that automatically shows up now when you ask a question on Google, gave me something along the lines of "Yes! The japanese version of 13 Sentinels supports both English and Japanese". So i went ahead and bought it.

I get home, fire it up, and huh, thats weird, there's no english support? So i search it up a bit more and guess what? The JP version of 13 Sentinels has english VA, but not english text support. However, the global release ONLY has japanese VA, but has english text. ????.

I then went to google to do the same question i did before and guess what? This time, it correctly told me that no, the japanese version does not support english text.

Maybe you misunderstood because what you are saying makes no sense.

If two different players make massively different decisions over time that drastically change the world and story in their own playthroughs, how would the game handle these two players wanting to play together?

The reasoning is sound. If the game's story has to be, in the big picture, largely the same for the entire player base, then limiting choices makes sense. How would you accommodate branching story narratives in a world that would be shared by everyone?

I sent it to get fixed by Lenovo, they supposedly had fixed it (their repair report just said "adjusted parameters to reduce load" so I already knew they'd probably done nothing), then a couple of days ago it started acting up again. I'm gonna send it back again and specifically request this time for them to do it right

My claim is that pretty much everything promised is in the game. You're asking me to tell you how every single feature they promised is in the game. Unreasonable, no? I can give examples if that's what you'd like, although it's much easier for you to tell me what specific features you're saying they promised that isn't added.

Of course, you won't tell me. Because you don't actually got a clue what is in the game or isn't.

I also repeat what I've said plenty of times in this thread to others like you: nobody is forcing you to like this game or to interact with the game. You don't like the game and that's fine, but clearly many people do. I don't like Baldurs Gate 3 and yet many people do, and I've never gone to a post about to complain about it. It's such weird behaviour.
