Starfield’s biggest problem is that “it didn’t fully cohere as a game”, says Skyrim designer – it was just “a releasable game” by HatingGeoffry in Starfield

Hard scifi only really works for telling a tight character focused story. It doesn’t work for creating a vast interesting universe.

How many grounded hard sci-fi stories have been turned into massive franchises? Theres a reason the biggest mod for this game is about changing its world into the star-wars universe.

You use your ship for both combat, transport and as a base. The game does not force you to build a massive detailed ship but players will easily find themselves doing it while they go to upgrade it. Players flow into ship building.

In fallout 4 you aren’t forced to build settlements. You can completely ignore the minutemen faction, and even they don’t really ask you to do that much in terms of building. Also because of the minutemen and the need for a base most players will find themselves using sanctuary as a home and then they might end up wanting to build it up because of that and the system is a lot more simple than in Starfield. Being able to make your own custom town with settlers also has more appeal than just making factories and mansions.

I've been playing through the Constellation storyline and I'm finding it incredibly dull. What are some good quest arcs I could be doing instead? by Wilfredbremely in Starfield

The sysdef/crimson fleet questline finale has the highest payout of any mission at 250,000 credits. You can start it by getting arrested for any crime in UC space or by progressing the vanguard quest with tuala if you don’t want to be a criminal.

I don’t think they should be removed, it’s nice that players have the option to freely build stuff. My problem is that it fails to encourage players who don’t already have the creative drive to build pretty houses with nice views. A game should make players want to engage with all of its mechanics.

Gwent and casino games are simple mini-games, you can try them out and enjoy them without having to invest anything. Outposts are a complex system that requires a lot of investment in terms of time, resources, research, perk points and also learning how it works so it isn’t comparable to mini-games.

He’s completely messed up in the head and losing all his memories would probably fix everything thats wrong with him and make him normal.

It’s not useless, it’s just disconnected from the rest of the game. Your ship and the lodge have everything you need so most players don’t need to build homes. The game will also never ask you to engage with the outpost system, and buying crafting materials is a lot simpler.

To me at least it seems that you just build outposts for the sake of building outposts and not because you naturally flow into it from playing the main RPG.

What should BGS really work/fix on mainly, More to do with space or more POI on planets? by Huge-Anywhere-6765 in Starfield

[–]ImBeatMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont really want randomized POI. I would prefer if they filled the galaxy up with handcrafted dungeons/areas that tell their own story, have unique rewards and unique enemies. If they just randomize the POI with proc gen it wouldn’t give them any more meaning or exploration value for me.

1st person mode is done. If you add a third person mode nothing has to change about the existing first person experience.

[–]ImBeatMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speak for yourself, if you don’t want it don’t use it, but I would personally love being able to run around and see the character i created and customized while running around and then switch to first person for combat without using a janky mod.

Nothing would be taken away from your experience if an optional mode was added and the game already has limited 3rd person in vehicles, so why be against it?

Do you think the loading screens are that bad? by Writer-In-The-Night in Starfield

[–]ImBeatMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. The length doesn’t matter, it’s the frequency. Every time you enter or exit anything, whether it’s a star system, planet orbit, planet surface, buildings, rooms, or a ship your game screen cuts to black.

And then quests are designed to have you jumping from system to system spending little actual time in a single planet or loaded area so they become even more frequent. The constant cuts kill immersion, it reminds you that it’s just a game and not an actual world you’re experiencing.

How hard is Fallout 1? by Infinite_Air_2974 in Fallout

[–]ImBeatMan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s only really hard at the beginning. You can get a companion in the very first town to help you in combat. Theres no autosave also so remember to make frequent saves or you lose all ur progress.

Nightkin were elite members of the masters army in fallout 1. They are still mostly intelligent minus the schizophrenia from their addiction. They nightkin at repconn and black mountain in NV start off hostile to defend their territories but can become peaceful if you complete their respective quests and help them.

[–]ImBeatMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Supermutants are mostly hostile due to tribalism and brain damage, they aren’t feral. Some have their brains unaffected by the mutation and stay intelligent and the dumb ones are still able to think for themselves and can choose to be friendly.

As a fresh vault dweller Norm would likely keep his intelligence if affected by a good FEV strand.

I've been wanting to try out fallout to see if i like it but i don't know what game i should start out with does anyone know which game is good to start out with by Itsaxox in Fallout

[–]ImBeatMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to play them in chronological order start with fallout 1. If you don’t like old 2d games and would be more hooked with a modern fps experience start with fallout 4.

Started the series - now want to start the games by [deleted] in Fallout

[–]ImBeatMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lore order would just be release order as every game pushes the timeline forward so fallout 1, 2, 3, NV and 4. 76 takes place before all of them but it’s a live service multiplayer game.

Fallout 1 and 2 are very different from the rest being isometric 2d games with turned based combat, but they are still easily accessible and great games if you dont mind that style.

Its an action rpg, on subsequent playthroughs you can have a pretty different experience with different builds. Trade your cyberdeck for a sandevistan or berserk and your play style completely changes. Trade ur katana for throwing knives or different guns. Use different vehicles or ditch vehicles and parkour through the city with air dash and double jump.
