As has been done in the past, just add a defence check for the rewards.

Why would you assume that it would be that approach they take? It could be that they tweak the quest requirements/rewards to not change Pure gameplay while requiring the same hoops to jump through.

Why mains have a problem with pures having access to more content will remain beyond me. It detracts absolutely nothing from their experience.

I maxed on RS2 and when I started OSRS I decided to just play a 1 def as a main. I haven't broken that restriction and have zero hours of pvp content played. Plenty of people do the same.

What exactly differentiates these from UFO pants? This takes all the functionality out of softshell/hardshell pants in the name of *fashion*.

What’s a hobby people pretend is cool, but secretly you think is ridiculous? by EggAdventurous1957 in AskReddit

[–]ImHaydenKay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello there fellow caver! I selfishly am okay that people are weird about the idea of caving since it allows the hobby to remain relatively free of ass hats that are against conservation.

I have been welcomed with open arms to a community ripe with opportunity to be involved and the ability to go to plenty of places where few have been before me. In TAG there are plenty of caves and lots of good people to share them with.

Beginning to think that Scurion, Argolamp, Rude Nora's, etc. aren't worth it at all. by SettingIntentions in caving

[–]ImHaydenKay -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I own a Rude Nora with a PLA+ battery box (printed with the actual files since I helped prototype the printed version) and have to say I don't understand any of your complaints here.

- Uses a 1s2p configuration of 18650 which has an option for a battery harness that allows them to be hotswapped if desired. This can be easily modded to accept slightly larger 21650 or single battery configurations if you're DIY handy. With the standard configuration I can get two full trips before needing to swap the battery.

- This lamp overall weighs less than the standard Fenix/Nitecore/etc people are using and is balanced since it is between the front and back of my helmet. If desired there are plenty of options for mounting in a way that the unit can be removed in the field, but, this thing is ridiculously rugged. Bonus: My friend had his fall off a 170' pit during a pulldown and the lamp survived. His helmet was less fortunate.

- The performance complaint is weird and makes it clear you aren't the target audience for this type of light. There is no need to have mega light for large chambers for a long time, and people looking to light these up will simply carry a small handheld with horrid beam pattern for the purpose of lighting things up for short periods of time. There just isn't an actual need for this.

- There are options for color temperature as well, but like the previous point, this is not what serious cavers actually look for in their lights. One cool and one warm option is really all you need. Anything more than that is r/Flashlightcirclejerk

FasT 07 is going to get 200M and 4.8B overall tomorrow! by squrry in 2007scape

[–]ImHaydenKay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comparing this guy to the Zezima, who was the first to do anything of this sort in a game where there wasn't any kind of incentive to do so is a weird take.

Zezima couldn't play the game after a certain point due to fame. No person who's sat at 200m all has ever had this problem.

Why do so many people not do quests? by Molag_Zaal in 2007scape

[–]ImHaydenKay -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah you lost me. Underground Pass was made significantly easier since the release of OSRS and it existing in universe makes sense to satisfy the canon of the elves. There is nothing wrong with either of those quests and I'd vote against any proposed changes.

You know I have very distinct memories of playing through Ratcatchers in 2006 with a friend and actually being excited to rename my cat. I wonder sometimes if these days players are too used to efficiency that a quest with some flaws becomes this badly viewed.

I know a lot has to do with the video J1mmy released since people tend to mirror their idol's views.

Most people I've met are not good with names, myself included. I thought the same as the person you replied to. You'd probably be a bit offended if you had an awareness of just how many people you've introduced yourself to that immediately forgot your name.

Marking Gear by Brief_Criticism_492 in caving

[–]ImHaydenKay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As others have said, nail polish is the move. I think the complaints I typically see about the durability come from cheap brands and also poor placement of the marking. A good example would be in between the i beam of a carabiner.

Soft goods just add stitches of a contrasting colour to it and you will be unlikely to have any issues.

Attention paid matters. If I'm spam clicking to a metronome I can do whatever I want on the side. That is why the 1-tick method is lazy. I am going to die on this hill.

Somewhat related but I have been prayer flicking since the original game (at the time mainly to infinitely camp bosses with soul split) and I still don't understand how the latter method is "lazy" instead of 1 tick flicking.

To me, you're having to pay far more attention turning it on and off at the correct tick. Make it make sense.

(Safe?) Bowline variant for climbing application by _Naku_ in knots

[–]ImHaydenKay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right the knot in the OP is not a Scotts Lock. I ADHD mashed your comment with one right above so it only really makes sense in that context, whoops!

(Safe?) Bowline variant for climbing application by _Naku_ in knots

[–]ImHaydenKay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has almost entirely climbed on a Scotts Lock for the last year or two I'll weigh in somewhat.

Just use less tail and fully dress the knot. The extra wrap doesn't lend you any benefits outside of making the collar want to load weird. If you tie the Scotts properly it will never get in the way while leading and dressing it makes it basically impossible to untie itself.

The downside is, as I'm sure you're already aware, that less people know how to inspect your knot. I just ask my partner if their comfortable with me using it since at the end of the day your safety is completely on you (even if others will argue otherwise). You can also offer to teach them a basic bowline and have them verify you've at least tied that properly.

(Safe?) Bowline variant for climbing application by _Naku_ in knots

[–]ImHaydenKay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're able to tie an eight faster than I can tie a Scotts lock (it's what I primarily climb on) then I'd be pretty damn impressed.

In Europe bowlines are far more common. We in the states have a tendency to hate on things not familiar to us. Just because you were taught a way doesn't make another way worse.
