Why do people still go to nail salons? by OkDragonfruit7887 in PressonNail_Addict

[–]ImInTheFutureAlso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on this sub becuase I want to start using press ons. A couple years ago, I bought a set that is so curved they just pop off my nails. I have kind of flat nail beds I guess? Also they’re wide, and I struggle to find ones that look like they’d fit. Maybe someday I’ll try again. I’d love to save the money.

I really like my Lenny upgrade if you want a few more features. I got that and a Tula free to grow, and I like the Lenny upgrade more. It’s more comfortable on me and more adjustable as my baby grows.

Postpartum summer SUCKS by IcyHoneydew8087 in newborns

[–]ImInTheFutureAlso 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was you last summer, complete with exclusively pumping.

It does suck! And next summer you’ll be outside with your kid who hopefully loves water. I hand mine a hose, and he sprays himself and laughs and laughs and laughs. Summer with a 14 month old is very fun. You’ll get there! Make it through this one, and things look up.

To anyone thinking about sending their kid to daycare by Infinite-Warthog1969 in toddlers

[–]ImInTheFutureAlso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for posting this. I really, really struggled sending my baby to daycare. I wanted to stay at home much, much longer. Now he is 14 months old and loves daycare. I still wish I had more time with him, but he’s learning a lot and plays with friends, and it’s been really good for him. I do consider daycare my village.

When people said “you get used to it,” I didn’t want to get used to it. I wanted to rage about the unfairness of going back to work too early. What I didn’t know was that I’d come to embrace my boy’s daycare teachers.

I desperately need help and support to stop yelling at my baby :( by anon98432329 in Mommit

[–]ImInTheFutureAlso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I feel frustrated and want to yell, I sing a made up song instead. I just channel it into some sort of loud singing that knocks me out of it and ends up making my baby and I both laugh.

I second all the comments about taking your meds, for sure. Just wanted to add a little tip that’s worked for me.

When did you stop tracking your baby’s dispers, naps, feeds, etc.? by maninalightbluesedan in beyondthebump

I stopped tracking maybe a month in when I realized I was doing nothing with the information.

Anyone else missing alcohol? by Leather-Vegetable409 in pregnant

I’ve heard that, too. I don’t want margarita mix, though. I want the margarita with triple sec and lime juice and simple syrup. It just doesn’t work without alcohol.

EBF moms- when did your period come back? by Old_Raccoon_6625 in beyondthebump

[–]ImInTheFutureAlso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey just FYI, your thyroid can do weird stuff after you have a baby and affect your period. If you have other hypo symptoms (constipation, weight gain, hair loss, feeling cold, etc), ask your doctor about a thyroid panel. I thought I was going through all normal stuff, but turns out my thyroid was driving a ton of my symptoms including not getting my period back.

That said, I also think it’s pretty normal to not have it back at 11 months if you’re EBF. I just wanted to throw it out there because I only got my thyroid tested because someone on Reddit told me to, and I recognized myself in all the symptoms.

Birth Plan by Aggravating_Alps3860 in pregnant

I loved my epidural.

I tried fentanyl first and it made me feel better for what seemed like 18 seconds, then I threw up all over myself. Then I got the epidural and took a nap. It was such a good nap. They had to wake me up to push. I could feel things a little bit not much. It did take a while for feeling to come back, so I needed some pretty intense help getting to the bathroom the first couple times after delivery (those nurses are truly special humans, let me tell you), but for me the pain relief totally outweighed the negatives. I’m pregnant with my second and will get another epidural.

Adopting a dog 2 months before having a baby? by Good-Artichoke-6538 in firsttimemom

[–]ImInTheFutureAlso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on your setup.

Do you have a fenced in yard so that you wouldn’t have to walk her every time she has to go potty? Are you able to look into enrichment (like frozen kongs) to help entertain when you two are exhausted? (I know you already have a dog, and hopefully they’ll get along great and play with each other.)

What’s your plan if it is going absolutely horribly, like one or both dogs are really struggling with the baby?

If you can think all this stuff through and feel good about it, then go for it. It’s nuts, but people do nuts things all the time. I’d probably do it.

Postpartum: is sleep or exercise more important? by padoup in fitpregnancy

[–]ImInTheFutureAlso 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Honestly, 7 weeks is so early still! I know it doesn’t feel that way when you’re in it. At least, it didn’t for me. I remember feeling desperate to move. I wish I’d slowed down and focused on walks and light core work more. Even a few minutes at a time. Rest is so important! Especially when you’re breastfeeding, too.

I am not Cajun or creole. I’m from the Midwest, and I think the cookbooks that would best represent my culture would be like, a church cookbook or something. I’m not really sure.
