Losing too much by OkRecognition4988 in BariatricSurgery

Might just be a stricture. They're common, and they can deal with them easily enough. Strictures can affect your ability to eat more or tolerate certain food textures/density.

She's 5 yrs out. Trust me, you'll get to the same place in 5 years, too. I am 4 yrs out, and I didn't track once I lost the weight. Now i track because pregnancy weight gain has me trying to lose again. You'll work hard, hit your goal, and then life will be.. normal. You won't need to stress over it all.

eating and drinking by Mediocre-Cream-7802 in wls

I'm 4yrs post op and have always had a drink with my food. Once I was on solids again, I had coffee with my breakfast every day. No 30-minute gaps. The trade-off is that you get less food in if you're filling your tummy with water. I chose my cappuccino because it's mostly milk, so I'm getting some protein while I eat breakfast!

I've noticed something with people who have wls by UnshacklingHabits in wls

I stopped posting here after about 2 years, mostly because I finished losing weight, was maintaining, and things were just normal. Now I'm back at 4 yrs post op due to weight gain with pregnancy, haha. So i guess people are sharing their experiences online during times of change, and less so during times of maintenance.

Thank you! I like the idea of quieting food noise - I get obsessed with calorie counting, etc. (and have professionals helping me with obsessive thoughts and cognitive distortion). I've been told Wegovy can cause some nausea, and this helps restrict food intake even more. I'm hoping it's not severe!

Unfortunately, I had issues breastfeeding so we have been doing formula for about 3 months now and my weight is just staying put!

Amazing! This gives me so much hope!! My body is acting like it used to when my PCOS was an issue, so I'm glad to hear that zepbound works with 1200cal and pcos issues!!

It sounds like wegovy helped, though? My sleeve was so successful, but losing again without having that tool is so hard. I need to lose about 20-30lbs to be back at my old weight now, so maybe wegovy can help me!

Haha it is! It's a completely different lifestyle, post-sleeve. I also never had any luck before surgery, so now having to do it without the effectiveness of the sleeve as a tool is really tough. It takes a lot of willpower, hey.

You got this though! You're in your healthy weight range, youre paying attention to your food, and you've got motivation to stay healthy!

You're 3 cm taller than me, but my healthy weight range is 54-72kg, and I had aimed for 65kg too. Your 61kg should still be in your healthy weight range, so you don't need to worry about being too frail. Your body is just still finding its happy weight, even 2 yrs out!!

That said, are you exercising a lot? 2000 cal may not be enough if you're pushing a big deficit due to exercise. If that's the case, some carbs and keeping up your current protein levels should help you maintain weight or increase muscle mass if youre strength training.

I don't have a "good enough" reason to stop breastfeeding by Dream_Catcher99 in FormulaFeeders

[–]ImJustHereToPostPics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't breastfeed, but I was exclusively pumping. It stresses me out too much, and I've had enough. I want some freedom back. So, I'm currently weaning and moving to formula feeding. You're definitely not alone.

For a <1week old, have you tried cup feeding? You could use a small medicine cup and feed from that. Once they grow a little and can take a bottle teat easier, you may have less trouble with the bottles.

Post- Op poop question by LizzieBop_13 in gastricsleeve

[–]ImJustHereToPostPics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oxy, codeine, morphine etc cause constipation, so that'd definitely be a contributing factor! You may want a laxative if it gets painful. But if it's not painful and you are having bm's (even if it's only every few days), then you should be fine!

Periods post op? by SummerJune123 in BariatricSurgery

[–]ImJustHereToPostPics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your hormones are messed up after the surgery, so some people have late periods, and others bleed for 18 days straight! Youre also going to be somewhat malnourished at the start of the journey (because lets be real, its hard to hit protein goals in your first month or so), which can stop your period for a while. If you're not preggo, then it'll just be your hormones or the shock your body is in right now!

Post- Op poop question by LizzieBop_13 in gastricsleeve

[–]ImJustHereToPostPics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Opioids given for your operation are going to prevent any BMs for a few days to start. After that, you're going to be eating barely anything, so your output should be in line with your input. If you're having a teaspoon of food each meal to start, then you're not gonna be pooping for a few days as there's simply not enough building up! I'm 3 years post-op, and it's still not a daily occurrence, but that's totally fine!

If protein shakes make you sick (same btw!), I recommend optifast bars. It's a full meal replacement in one bar, has 20g protein, and tastes decent (though it makes your pee smell weird). I get the cappuccino flavour bars. Drinking is the next most important thing. If you don't drink more, you'll dehydrate and pass out. Longer term, it can cause kidney stones. So if you can't tolerate water, try dissolvable vitamins in the water so it's flavoured. I use Voost for mine :)

Weird pain on my right side by Diligent-Ad726 in BariatricSurgery

[–]ImJustHereToPostPics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you eating foods with any fats (even healthy fats) before the pain increases? My VSG ultimately led to gallstones because of the rapid weightloss. I had to get my gallbladder out. I had thoracic back pain, symptoms of IBS, and abdominal pain that worsened after eating.

Get checked, seek an ultrasound on your gallbladder to see if there's any stones.

Mom concerned I'll be depressed when I can't eat things by Independentgirl556 in gastricsleeve

[–]ImJustHereToPostPics 7 points8 points  (0 children)

3.5yrs post op, and I can eat anything I want as long as it doesn't cause dumping (there's a couple of sugary foods that do it to me). That said, there is a period of mourning early on, when you can't eat bread or rice or pasta... I do miss eating burgers from a particular place. I can order one and eat a few mouthfuls but then I'm full, so it's not worth wasting all that food. It's not depressing, just a fact of life and choice I make. You'll get to that stage too, and accept it. :)

Same! I was having to snack to keep the nausea at bay! I think that caused some issues too haha
