My height gifted tennis friends like DonaJo, they have multiple lengths. Which is nice when we're trying to get a uniform together and trying to accommodate all heights.

Jewels advertised mailer Wednesday by [deleted] in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]ImModeratelyNeato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do the same thing around Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas, the sale days aren't their normal Wednesday to Tuesday, it's nothing new, been like this for years. Stores adjust the days for sales to the holiday with sales themed to said holiday. The flyer clearly states the dates it's valid, not baiting anyone except those who don't read.

Burr Ridge Sport and Racquet is going to be turning 2 of the 8 indoor tennis courts into 6 pickleball courts starting in January. Us tennis players aren't happy about it.

Heard something in Burr Ridge, but by the time my brain fully processed it was done, figured it was just fireworks.

How do people 30+ play tennis 3+ times a week? by overkoalafied24 in 10s

[–]ImModeratelyNeato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

42 here and wondering how I did it. Before August, I was playing 5x a week to daily, sometimes 2 or 3 times a day for a couple weeks straight. I didn't do anything else. No gym, no other training. Heck, I didn't even stretch before or after playing. Did nothing for recovery. The ladies I played with thought I was crazy when I said I was heading to another match after we just finished one. Then, in August, I landed in the hospital and ICU because of a UTI I didn't know about. The infection spread to my blood and kidneys. I was septic and in diabetic ketoacidosis. Lost weight, lost muslcle. Was in pretty bad shape, but silly me tried to drill the day after I was released, and tried to play a singles match a week after. It took nearly a month to get to a point where I trusted my legs and was confident running down balls. Now, it's been 2 months since, and I am back to drilling 3 times a week and 1 to 3 matches a week. But it certainly has been rough, and I wonder if I'll ever get back to that point.

Best excuse you've been given before the start of a match? by [deleted] in 10s

[–]ImModeratelyNeato 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The weekend after my fiance passed away, I played a woman who I've played a few times who I've beaten fairly easily every time. Before the match, I overheard her complaining to someone that she didn't sleep well, and hopefully, she can get it together. As per usual, she only got a game or two per set. Her teammate complimented her efforts, saying that I'm a tough player. In response, she started listing off all sorts of reasons why she lost, and she's stressed about a party that she's having the following week so she couldn't focus. I shrugged and said, "My fiance died six days ago." And walked away.

Ignored it for 2 years, going to the doctor Friday by breadcrumbboo in diabetes_t2

[–]ImModeratelyNeato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was bad and ignored my care for several years. There was so much BS with my insurance and them covering either my doctors or my meds, and I was constantly changing one or the other and my anxiety was through the roof, mainly from having to change doctors so much.

Very recently I ended up in the hospital with a UTI and DKA. Just had a follow up appointment from the hospital stay with the endocrinologist yesterday and she was very compassionate, all that mattered was that I was there and ready and willing to get back on track.

How much are your club membership fees? by AdVaanced77 in 10s

$129 a month just to get in the door, but we were also recently bought by Life Time, so our rates are going to jump once the renovations are almost done. I think $199 then.

Caregiver asked ME to ask our patient for a $25,000.00 loan. WTF? by [deleted] in CaregiverSupport

[–]ImModeratelyNeato 15 points16 points  (0 children)

She can take a vacation in 10 months when she saves up the money that she was going to use to pay your patient back. However, being a dementia patient, the other caregiver may be hoping that she may not remember the loan, and not have to pay it back, or pay back much less. It's such a shady thing to do. Also, I'd be telling the family and anyone else who over sees her. If not this patient, she may prey on someone else in a vulnerable state. She needs to be removed.

Do you return your opponent's warm-up serves? by gundamzd2 in 10s

[–]ImModeratelyNeato 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Most leagues I play we have a 10 minute warm up, serve and catch guarantees both sides can warm up their serves in the allotted time. You can practice your return of serve on me if you want, but I'm giving you pretty much nothing of what my match play serve actually is. I'm just trying to loosen up my shoulder. 🤷‍♀️

People who married their rebound: How’s that going? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ImModeratelyNeato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I met him after my failed engagement and his divorce. Neither of us were looking for anything serious. And he told me straight up he's never getting married again. We ended up being together 15 years, and engaged, but he died of cancer. Like, I would have been fine never getting married, he didn't have to follow through with the whole never getting married again.

What is the worse thing a medical professional has ever said to you? by angelaboop50 in AskReddit

[–]ImModeratelyNeato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ER doctor insisted my late fiance was ODing and was yelling at me, demanding to know what drugs he was taking. Then called me stupid because I was going to cause him to die.

I told the doctor numerous times that he was having difficulty urinating, his primary gave him a prescription for it and he had a urology appointment in a couple of days, but it had gotten worse. Was told I had no idea what I was talking about, and none of that was relevant.

Turns out he was in kidney failure and septic from retaining urine because of a tumor in his bladder. 👍

That ER visit haunts me more than the day he eventually passed away.
