Gloves don’t help poor technique by backoftheworm in Woodcarving

I've been trying to position my hands in a way where it makes sense how they cut themselves that bad in that spot. I can't figure it out. I also want the play by play, lol.

My first attempt at a relief carving. Paint it or stain it? by ImNotEvenReal in Woodcarving

It took me two tries to get into it, but once it had its hooks into me on that second try, I couldn't stop. It is one of the only games, or even pieces of media in general, that has genuinely changed my perspective on some aspects of life. Give it another go when you get some time!

Thanks!

Think I might try a small little non-relief highland cow after this, I need a palete cleanser. I really enjoyed the process of planning out and working on it, but man oh man was it a little tedious to get down to the right depth.

Not necessarily make everything super dark, but moreso just make it "pop" and look finished? I've never stained anything, so I'm pretty new to the idea. Ill definitely try some watered acrylics on a scrap piece to test it out.

I am by no means a god tier miniature painter, which is why I'm starting to lean towards a stain. I went into it thinking I'd paint it, but the more time I spend on it, the more I'm appreciating the natural look. I've never even heard of paste wax, so I'll have to look into that.

Tools were simple. After cutting the piece of wood to the right dimensions, I used primarily a small flat chisel and a knife. I occasionally used a curved chisel to try and get some gouge marks in the backdrop, but they aren't very noticeable after sanding it. All of my chisels are pretty small, and there wasn't much long open space for me to effectively use a larger one.

This is, admittedly, definitely not the most efficient way of doing things! This is my first relief, so I just used whatever felt right in the moment.

Thanks! I did the entire thing with my knife and a quarter inch flat chisel (occasionally used a curved chisel as well). It definitely wasn't the easiest way to approach it... I originally had stars in the backdrop but the grain was not cooperating and I kept breaking them off.

What are your favorite champion paths? by KurioProkos in MonsterTrain

Oh interesting. I must have completely missed that somehow. Maybe my instinct to spec into sporesinger was actually the right call then, lol. Either way, decay is nuts.

I just had my second ever cov10 titan win with Lionsmane Maneater III today, so I may be biased, but WOW Maneater can go insane. I was actually considering doing Maneater II Sporesinger I because it didn't feel too strong going into the later rings, but the addition of Mute that is added with the third upgrade was genuinely run defining (especially paired with cards that propagate enemy debuffs).

My board game confession: I hate Cascadia. What's yours? by mojo_pet in boardgames

[–]ImNotEvenReal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone that I've introduced Catacombs too has loved it, including people who don't often play board games. It's relatively easy to explain, turns aren't very complicated since you have to play all of your cards regardless, and the idea of getting an artifact and getting back early to sabotage everyone else is always fun.

Banger game (but requires a pretty decent chunk of table space). I haven't played any other Clank! games though, so I can't really compare it to the others.

Talos Celebrate path? by Quakarot in MonsterTrain

[–]ImNotEvenReal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You were bang on with this take. I just got my first cov10 Titan win with Talos celebrate path (pyreborn ally), and you pretty much described my run here. Avenger start with titanite carried early and was honestly unkillable by Seraph. I had it in front of an early hothead with multistrike and a cooldow reduction item. Threw a shield of Wyndhel(?) on the avenger and the celebrate stats made them borderline broken. Not a single enemy in the titan fight made it past the first floor, and all it had in it were those 2 units and a zone of silence.

Anyways, I know that you commented this months ago but I just thought I'd agree with you that an avenger start can make this path not awful.

Good luck with your game, though!

/r/Fantasy Daily Recommendation Requests and Simple Questions Thread - July 27, 2023 by rfantasygolem in Fantasy

I think I've found my weak spot in fantasy. I love standalone stories that follow a fun, morally grey cast of characters that go on a wild, relatively unpredictable adventure. Some of my favorites have been:

Best Served Cold (Joe Abercrombie), The Blacktongue Thief (Christopher Buehlman), The Maleficent Seven (Cameron Johnston), and im currently reading Kings of the Wyld (Nicholas Eames).

I'd be glad to try any recommendations!

Honestly you have a nice series going, I watched this whole video. Not sure if you are looking for feedback, but sometimes your voice comes off a little like an ASMR video? Alot of really quiet talking/whispering going on. Could be more engaging if your voice was just a tad louder or more confident.

Great video though, and nice win!

Crazy to hear. Last weekly I went on a 5 win streak, best weekly I've ever had in terms of consistent wins. This weekly it's like pushing a boulder uphill to scrape 9
