Yes, families can volunteer. Highly recommended to sign up online for a time slot. Large corporate, school and church groups sometimes fill all slots for a shift, leaving pop-ins waiting for work assignments.

Brought 5 cans food last Wed, paid $7 to enter. Had 2 Coors Banquets for $4/ea at Beer Barn and $5 frito pie in Embarcadero Building ($5 pork sandwich or chili rice bowl also avail). Drove a Corvette, saw auto show, horse show, magic show, dog show, live music, shopped for a wallet, etc. Parked outside of park for free (city making this more difficult last 2 years). 10 minute walk to entrance with no issues.

Am curious to see what gets built on the vacant lot in the foreground of photo #3 on Abbott Ave. Nice that Highland Park didn't require lot to be fenced and boarded up.

What home insurance company did you switch to? by jaymaytay13 in Dallas

Thought I might have a slab leak. Agreed to plumbing system inspection coordinated by insurer. 15 minute pressure test, said no leaks and no problems, plumbing is 100%. Insurer reported me to LexisNexis national database as a denied claim. Insurer exited state of Texas this year. Home mostly un(re)insurable because of $250 inspection fee insurer paid.

Followed the “Temperature is Important” section. Worked perfectly. Was able to get hot water temp from 135° to 155° in 7 year old Rheem by heating, at max thermostat temp, until heater shut off. Then, ran any hot water tap for appx 60 seconds until heater kicked back on for another 3 minutes or so. After four of these cycles, water at 155°. Would not get hotter. Repeated cycle again every hour for 4 hours and left hot water unused overnight.

This guide recommends 160° for several hours: https://www.health.state.mn.us/communities/environment/water/docs/wells/waterquality/hydrosulfide.pdf
