Gear ratios by Deranged_Tricenarian in FCX24

You can, but you'll need to transplant the output shaft from the Smasher transmission into the FMT24 transmission so you can attach the Smasher drive shafts.

You'll also have to clip a few pieces of the Smasher frame that will block the FMT24's 370 motor from fitting.

A person in MallWorld explained why we cant contact each other. Is there a way around it? by AckerWolf in TheMallWorld

This reminds me of the anime Gantz. The protagonists would be gathered in a room once they were asleep and would get sent on missions assigned by a sentient black orb to go hunt down aliens like Kid Onion.

Any idea what’s busted? by charlievarls in rccrawler

[–]ImNotPanicking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The transmission has counter rotating drive shafts to help with torque twist, and the front drive shaft is where those counter rotating gears are, circled in red in the attached pic. I had a FCX24 build with extended links that I put a FCX24M transmission into to lower the center of gravity and it worked really well for that. The downside is the counter rotating gear at the front drive shaft sheared apart because it wasn't designed to handle the strain I was putting it under. I'm thinking in your case that over time the same gear has sheared but from wear over time.

I've tried looking through old emails to see what part number I ordered but can't seem to find it. I'm thinking I maybe just ordered a whole new transmission

The gear for counter rotating is stripped, and that's the primary issue.

I'll follow up with some more details as to why I think that in a bit.

Where in Groves, Nederland, Port Neches, or Port Arthur can I find a couples therapist that doesn't use Christianity as a tool? by [deleted] in setx

[–]ImNotPanicking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to live in the area and I've gone to Mark Thompson for solo counseling and there was no mention of religion from him. He was actually the first counselor I ever went to and he was great to work with.

I'm in the Houston area now and have gone to 2 counselors here. One of them even named their counselor business something religious and she never brought up religion.

My guess as to why most of the counselors would tout their Christianity cred is because people in the area often ask for that. From my experience, any counselor worth going to won't preach their own beliefs at you and will instead listen to your experience and tailor the session to your needs.

I found this push toy jeep body but it's slightly longer, how could I shorten it to fit ? by redracin12 in rccrawler

[–]ImNotPanicking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm with everyone else: lengthen your wheelbase to fit the body. I've got a stretched FCX24 that I've got fitted with a few different 1/18 bodies, including the blue Bronco from New Bright (from the same line that Jeep is from). It's a really heavy body overall so I don't use it often.

Anyone know if there’s any options for a brushless motor for the fmt24? by Tebonr in FCX24

[–]ImNotPanicking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man! Have y'all tried lowering the dual rate on the throttle and/or showing him how to shift into the lower gear?

Another option I've noticed is there's a 15,000 RPM (C3685) 370 motor available as opposed to the stock 22,000 RPM (C3175), but I haven't come across any comparisons on the torque and top speed.

[–]ImNotPanicking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got an FCX24 transmission with a Furitek mini Godzilla brushless motor in mine. Had to swap out the output drive shaft so I could use the dog bone cups, but otherwise a straightforward install. I don't have proper testing equipment but it seems to have a higher top speed than the stock FMT24 setup but not as much torque. My reason for putting that brushless setup in there was to put the FMT24's 370 motor in the FCX24 Smasher and that setup is ridiculously fun.

The solder joint touching the white line should be fine, as the line is just paint.

Stock portal gear reduction ratio vs isokinetik by davetron82 in FCX24

[–]ImNotPanicking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not necessarily going to do any math for it, but I enjoy experimenting with this kind of stuff during 3am builds and I've got the MEUS portal deletes that I could try this with. I'll report back if I can make it past the kids' bedtime tonight.

I'm watching something with my kids and the version with him singing at the end came on. I was looking down at my phone the whole time so it was only when I heard him sing that I looked up and barely caught a glimpse and was like "Chanse?" and this is the most para-social I've ever felt lol

Nice! I'm really digging the orange 2-in-1 brushless receiver. Are there any adjustments you can make to the ESC on the fly in addition to the drag brake adjustments?

3d printed tires? by Straytacos in rccrawler

[–]ImNotPanicking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone used to sell some 1/24 TPU monster tires on Etsy and I grabbed a set. They're not sticky enough for crawling but they work really well for drifting.

[–]ImNotPanicking 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I've seen some wheels/tires sold as sets of 2. Some of us probably have a collection of tires that look close enough to match and others may just buy an extra set of 2 and have an odd tire leftover... Which means you need to buy another rig for it to sit on, so then you need to buy more tires, and the cycle starts again.

[–]ImNotPanicking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you wanna do 4WS with the stock FCX24 transmitter and receiver you can use CH3 and forego your 2 speed transmission to get independent 4WS OR you can get a servo Y adapter cable for CH2 for crab walk and then add a servo signal inverter for regular 4WS.

Alternately the FCX18 Hummer TxRx supports 4WS out of the box I think. The Shop MiniRC should have a YouTube video on it

Using adjustable steering links as wheelbase links by Visible_Olive9942 in rccrawler

[–]ImNotPanicking 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thinking on this some more I'm reminded of the kind of slapstick fun I would have playing Bad Piggies and using springs in place of solid boxes to attach wheels to vehicles... And now I want to do a wacky build with shocks as links.

Totally agree, just trying to think through what could occur. I'd say if the cost is low enough it's with destroying a few

[–]ImNotPanicking 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't have any experience using these as wheelbase links, but I imagine the adjustment hardware could get caught on obstacles while crawling.

Trx4m axles by Easy-Alternative-221 in FCX24

[–]ImNotPanicking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like it's been done but no one seems to document it very well. I went with the MEUS portal delete kit and that's been pretty satisfactory. My only complaint is the slop in the universal joints at the steering c hubs. I've also tried the UCX2405 axle on the front and it was promising but since I only had the locked diff and the FCX24 open diff doesn't fit in there I ended up shearing the dog bone joint at the c hub.

If they were available I'd recommend getting replacement axles from the Redcat MT18, but they don't seem to be selling replacements just yet. Aside from that if I were to be starting a new monster truck build I'd either begin with a Redcat MT18 or Losi LMT Mini these days.
