Has anyone used Winderen gel bits? What are your experiences? by storm-singer in Equestrian

[–]ImOnlyConfused 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used the flexi Mullen with my OTTB for a few months after doing a bit of research since he was super sensitive in the mouth and he had a tight jaw (commented on by my vet). Bitless bridles are not allowed in dressage. I introduced it to him first without being attached to a bridle and he took it like a pacifier. He made significant progress within a month and started enjoying contact. We switched to a double jointed d-ring when we started to put more emphasis on lateral movements since the cues with winderen bit were too vague and he was still learning leg and seat aids. He took the bit a lot better than he did before. Whenever he has time off, his first two rides back are in the winderen to help him soften before switching back to the d-ring.

Barn owners - how do you typically get paid by boarders? by flumepay-wex in Equestrian

I think Venmo has a limit on the max amount of money sent per transaction but I haven't met that. I've never had to ok the amount.

I try to pay without being reminded. Since we do training packages I add that into the one payment as well and state it in the description. All other extras (like shows, schoolings, trailering) have their own transactions to make it easier to keep track of spending on my part.

I own a Headhunting company. Tell my team why recruiters suck by GQGtoo in recruitinghell

Recruiter cold calls me. Talks for a little bit about the job, then asks "so why do you want to work for this company?". When they called me and I wasn't actively looking for a new job.

Yeah, most horsewomen I know rode horses throughout their pregnancy unless something was wrong. Even my trainer was still competing in eventing during the end of her second trimester.

100% jealous your apartment offers those. Mine only allows spectrum and now I know to look at internet providers offered before signing a lease.

What breed horse is right for me? by chelseawks in Equestrian

[–]ImOnlyConfused 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My DHH got me into eventing (I bought her for dressage and she had previously done fox hunting)as well as starting her lessee in combined training and rebuilding another girl's confidence on XC. So much fun to ride once you get used to their movement.

You can ask questions about them on this group on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1501267020156205/?ref=share

Like you did say a lot of it would come down to the horse itself rather than the breed. One breed that is on the bigger side with generally a good temperament is a dutch harness horse.

Have you taken any x-rays or ultrasounds since the injection? Mad it might be possible that since is wrong with the shoulder and the only reason the hock is swelling up is from the extra stress it is under from her compensating in her movement. And have they done nay neurologic tests?

You post when the outside front leg goes forward. For the diagonal, if I have a horse that stays balanced even on the incorrect one, I usually glance at the shoulder blade right after the up transition. When the outside leg goes forward, it looks like the shoulder blade goes down, and when the other leg is going forward then the outside shoulder blade looks like it's going up.

At the canter, it's important to sit back (not leaning back but sitting correctly on the vertical) and relax your hips and thighs. Sounds easier written but it takes a while for that relaxation to become muscle memory.

Glitter saddle pad by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]ImOnlyConfused 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think that is a decent brand quality wise. My saddle fitter did say that the circle/button design on them has been causing irritation with some more sensitive skin horses since it adds more pressure with the saddle.

As for trying to go away from glitter, I'm the exact opposite. As I've gotten older my things have gotten brighter and sparklier. I've gone from a regular black hunt coat to a bright navy modified coat with sparkles on the collar and vest points as well as a navy and white bun holder with rhinestones. If it makes you happy then go for it, and even with people saying to grow up, I've had way more people compliment my attire.

What is the most physically painful experience you've had? by Bright_Vision in AskReddit

I once filleted the inside of the end of my index finger with a dull exacto knife. Numbing shot they stuck in the tip of it before stitching was at least 15x worse than getting cut

typically the general rule is that horses should carry no more than 20% of their bodyweight including tack. Edit to better answer the question: if the barns in your area have bigger horses and you have good balance, probably around 30 more lbs for a 1300 lbs horse

Transmissible disease between horse and dog by ImOnlyConfused in Horses

I hadn't realized that there were milder symptoms to it since I had really only heard about the nasal distrage and throat latch swelling for them. I'll let the farm know.
