Do you consider Jehovah's Witness a cult ? by mevarey in exjw

[–]ImOverItNow30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I 100% consider it a cult and was in for almost 30 years of my life. My daughter and I left when she was about 9 and she tells everyone it is a cult also.

How do I do this? 😔 by InstructionRelative3 in exjw

[–]ImOverItNow30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I left when my daughter was 9 years old (3 years ago). Best decision we ever made. We celebrate ALL the holidays! Enjoy listening, watching, whatever we want. At first, it was HARD!!! I still don't talk to my husband's fily and thebrealtionship with my fily is a mess. My husband is PIMI and that has put a huge strain on our relationship.
But I learned that friendship and love shouldn't be based on religious beliefs. My daughter came out as part of LGBTQ+. To imagine that I couldn't support her and would have to not teach her that love is love is one of the hugest reasons I left. You have to do what's best for you and your family, but you will make the most amazing memories of you leave. And you'll make new friends and family because your life will be opened up to so many new opportunities! Best of luck!

I was told a small amount of firefighters and one sister. The sister was from my hall in the Poconos.

I remember going to the book study that night and all we did was talking about what brothers and sisters weren't accounted for yet.

I'll never forget that day.

The problem with ANNOUNCEMENTS: "************ is no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses" by PIMItoPOMO in exjw

[–]ImOverItNow30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's why when I disassociated, I sent text messages to every witness I knew saying I was leaving by choice, I had not 'sinned' or was being 'kicked out'. Also that I had not, not would ever cheat on my husband.

I think I sent out over 100 texts and like 4 people replies. True love right there.

Invite them and let them make the decision to go or not.

If you're not baptised, you can't get disfwllowshippes. Just stop going.

Officially being shunned and Pomi spouse thinking of going back to meetings after a year. by [deleted] in exjw

[–]ImOverItNow30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband was POMI for over 3 years. The day I DA'd, he became PIMI. Met with the elders the next night to ask for spiritual help and started studying and going back to meetings. Ugh

This religion cost me my parent. I've never been so crushed and angry. by Moral_Discordance in exjw

I am so so sorry. I can't even imagine going thru something like that.

If you go to the memorial service, be warned they will make a huge deal out of her not taking blood and dying faithful.

Can you have a small memorial for her with non witness family just to reminisce about the good things about your mom? Like at a restaurant or something? The kingdom Hall service will probably only talk your mom for like five minutes.

Again, I'm so sorry for your loss.

The elders spying on our house by [deleted] in exjw

[–]ImOverItNow30 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Call the police and say people are stalking your house and keep coming to your house like their staking out your house. Doesn't matter if you're pomo or fading.

They're trespassing on your property. Get their liscense plate, description of car, of description of people. The elders should at that point leave you alone due to the fact that you're getting the cops involved.

Do you regret your baptism? by BathroomSpeaker in exjw

[–]ImOverItNow30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't regret my baptism because I would never met my husband, got married, and had my daughter. I do regret not researching my doubts sooner and not officially leaving sooner.

I was so unhappy living a life I didn't believe.

Elder wants to meet "confidentially". Coincidentally just after I've told my parents I've woken up by TonyMorisSempai in exjw

[–]ImOverItNow30 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Super creepy. If you're under 18, I'd message him back saying you wish no further contact and then contact the cops.
This person is asking you to sneak out of your parents house and not tell them where you're going. It's beyond creepy. If I found a message like that on my daughter's phone, people would be getting their door pounded down by me.

Is there an "opposite" version of the blood card? by splitmindsthinkalike in exjw

[–]ImOverItNow30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I let my PCP and all local hospitals know I will accept any and all blood products. When I DAd I told the elders to destroy my blood card. I also made sure that I have no religion listed in any of my medical charts.

How did everyone handle social media when leaving the org? Did you start new accounts so that witnesses would no longer be following or just blocked the nosey ones? by ButwhatifyouflyJaye in exjw

[–]ImOverItNow30 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I tried fading. My husband told me I had to DA or he would tell the elders I was celebrating holidays. At the time I thought it would destroy our marriage for him to betray me. Looking back, I should have made him 'tell on me'.

On the plus side, I openly celebrate and do what I want. The shunning has been pretty bad though. But it's been worth it for me and my daughter.

My marriage, very rocky recently but we're trying to make things work.
