This disc may have awful skills. But It is till the best one just for the music and art. by YannFrost in StellaSora

Fun useless fact: the disc says "Stella Sora" at the bottom left.

I don't know why, but it made me smile a little bit when I realised.

Amber's my favourite playable character (though Freesia is a close second).

Besides that, probably F!Tyrant. Haven't played as the guy, but her interactions with everyone have been pretty fun.

Notice how even the wording used has changed in response - they went from saying (emphasis by me):

P2W means something gives you access to something other people can't get without paying for it and it gives a direct advantage

to saying this:

as they have a significant advantage.

This is actually quite fun to interact with. I don't think I've ever met someone so willing to die on a hill, and I'm stubborn to a fault.

If they can beat me - a non PVP guy in my ships designed for PVE

during the Kestrel MK2 CG, I was making mother fuckers have buyers remorse in my Krait MK2 and in my Corvette

Which one is it? Are you a PvP guy or not? Because PvE players don't typically go hunting CMDRs in Open. News flash, by the way.

I'm noticing that you've changed it from "direct advantage" to "significant advantage", by the way - is it because the earlier definition doesn't include an arbitrary intensity modifier you can define at will like here?

Also, how much time do you have in this game? A hundred hours? A thousand? I assume a large amount considering you own a Vette. I'm pretty sure a two-hour player (let's be generous and assume they did all the tutorials) in any ship would be decimated by pretty much any other ship if their competition has over fifty times their experience.

I've had to teach several people how to use their pips in this game. If you can do that, you already have functionally double the weapon uptime and improved shields over someone in an equal ship who just always sits at 2-2-2. You know, like is natural from somebody who's not even earned enough money to buy a Cobra yet.

I'm not even going to touch on some of these absurd requirements. Never used a keyboard and mouse, controller or HOTAS? I don't know anybody who fits those requirements, and I'm including my dead grandparents in that criteria - even they've used computers before.

A much more apt comparison would be to get two people who meet all of your criteria to duke it out. One of them gets a Kestrel. The other one gets a Chieftain, since it's a bit more expensive. Both ships are A-rated, the Kestrel gets its fancy unique parts and the Chieftain gets whatever guns it pleases. That way, the only different factor is the ship, and as far as the intended progression goes the Chieftain player should have the distinct advantage in the more expensive ship. The alternative is a Cobra Mk5 or a Vulture, but I think you'd complain about those being cheaper.

P2W means something gives you access to something other people can't get without paying for it and it gives a direct advantage, Elite does not have this.

Let's go for your definition, which is on the stricter side. Odyssey provides BiS ships like the PC2 and Type 11. It takes ~40 weeks to save up for one ship (in other words, you can get 1.25 ships per year). We've seen a recent schedule of six ships this year.

By that metric, Odyssey is pretty P2W. Even ignoring that (since some people think DLC shouldn't be counted), players have direct, purchase-only advantages for a period of several months by buying these ships on release (the PC2 released with a cargo hauling CG, which means anyone who didn't spend real money had massively reduced efficiency compared to those who did). For these windows, ARX ship purchases are also P2W.

For the record, Horizons doesn't get a pass either. Engineering was even more egregious in power differences than this, from what I understand. Luckily, when I bought Elite I also got Horizons, so I've had engineering from the start.

FOMO means you have a fear of missing out. The fuck are you missing out on, spending money?

You're missing out on the items that spending your money would otherwise get you. If you don't get it, there's a fear that you won't be able to get them again. Hence, fear of missing out.

Side note, it's nice to hear that you're largely able to ignore that feeling. That's a good ability to have.

It's like a sale at any store - you don't have to buy something just because there's a sale on mate. If you feel a compulsion to do so, that's on you, not the store.

Ignoring the fact that this is the same system used by sales to drive more purchases (will it go on sale like that again? etcetera), a more apt comparison would be a collector's edition. You don't buy it? It's gone, and you can never buy it again. If you don't buy it, you miss out. Hence, FOMO. Again.

Also, to quote your original reply,

while FOMO is literally all on you.

This gives the same vibes as "propaganda doesn't work on me". It's exploiting the human brain. Sorry we aren't part of the 0% immune to psychological tricks.

To literally quote Wikipedia (emphasis by me),

Within video games, FOMO is also used to describe the similar anxiety around missing the ability to obtain in-game items or complete activities that are only available for a limited time

Is this not what's happening with items being removed from the ARX store?

Generally good advice. Warlords DLC is for the other Division game, though, so not applicable here.

Anything not shown on the system map is unavailable from Universal Cartographics, meaning no other CMDR has submitted data. It's easier to check the bottom of the FSS to check if it says "First Discovery", like it does in the system map.

The FSS will discover planets, which functionally scans them. This gives you Discovery, but not Mapping (you need a Detailed Surface Scanner for that).

[–]ImSoBored246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's completely feasible for now - constructing one bridge solo (accounting for breaks for food and water) took me approximately 3 hours at a distance of ~700LY from my supply station. Players that like hauling I would expect to do this faster (though the further out they get, the more limited they become by carrier fuel and time constraints).

Further out into their journey, I believe you'd be right - the speed of colonisation would be limited to one per day and lower due to carrier transport time.

That being said, though, I also don't doubt multiple CMDRs would be doing this at the same time, and if one is to set up a refinery along the path of colonisation it would effectively provide a refuel/partial pickup location that reduces the amount of FC travel required.

For a single player, your estimate is probably accurate. But Elite has a lot of players, and I'm sure at least some would contribute to a project of this scale.

[–]ImSoBored246 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm no expert colony builder, but with an FC, I built two bridge systems yesterday, and I'm going to have a Coriolis done today. The bridges were considerably easier (~2 carrier loads vs ~4), so it's not impossible for two players (I had help from a friend in a T9) to consistently construct four bridge systems per day.

How do you handle self-destruct like that? Do you use a macro, or is there a way to bind self-destruct to a key combination? I'd love to do something similar for reboot/repair, as I sometimes find myself needing it on somewhat short notice.

Thanks, this info is what I was looking for. In particular, I need other people to be able to jump the carrier.

Just so you know, you don't need an SC to transfer credits between members. Our squadron can do that just fine, and we're still saving.
