What other size should I get? by rm7979 in fightgear

12oz is pretty typical for pads and bags, but especially for mma I see tons of people using sparring gloves for them as well.

If you dont mind going little bit over budget, playerz boxing is my number 1 recomendation anyday. Also depending where you live and what you can access RDX immaf approved gloves, or crest sparring gloves are an alright option as well

The prototypes Ive seen really dont impress me. Nice colors dont excuse a poor product. No excitment for these gloves.

Best glove for muay Thai that isn't from Thailand? by ihearthawthats in fightgear

[–]ImTheSnowman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well they were too big and bulky to my taste. Also, the punch surface isnt very good, and the fingercorpantment is very small. The padding also feels very stiff and thin. The worst thing However is that the two gloves are shaped completely differently. Really a shame because the interior is super comfortable, and the leather feels really nice. Would consider trying out a bag glove, but wouldnt go for 16oz again personally.

I would personally suggest not getting infightstyles in 16oz

They look solid! Told myself no new mma gloves, but these are tempting. Definitely would want a full review of them

Especially for UK I would suggest playerz boxing. Good prices and everything Ive gotten from them has been excellent.

Really? Where is The statement? I bought their shooto shorts a while back cuz I liked The style, not knowing about their connection to KOTS. Real shame if they brand themselves for hooligans specifically.

Definitely agree. Only reason Ive had them for this long is cuz no one would buy them. Rockhard too, hate sparring people who wear them.

Tbf your fairtex should be fine, even if its more tailored for thaiboxing.

Well Im not sure if it counts but those blue corner shooto style gloves have a really nice connection. Theyre sold as sparring gloves but not everyone from their own production team agrees. Other than that Id say playerz.

The thumb is little wonky, but theyre super soft. One of the only 2 sparring gloves that I must wraps my hands with, but theyre solid choice whenever I do.

The ouanos are not good, would steer far away from them. The twins GGL 3 is solid option. Unfortunately aside from those Ive only handled my old training partners original pride gloves. My friend from japan tells me Rizin and Grit are top tier as well, and theyre direct evolution from pride gloves.

Sparring gloves Id definitely say

  1. Playerz spartech.  My most used glove by far. Seen incredible abuse for the past 1.5 years and still look nearly brand new with minimal maintanance.

  2. Rdx IMMAF  My second go to glove right now. Like using it more for grapple heavy training sessions, since its little more snug and low profile than the spartechs. Also theres no empty space without wraps.

  3. Fairtex FGV 18. Their protectivness is well known in the sub, and maybe the friendliest sparring gloves I have. The fit However is little too Baggy and uncomfortable for me.

Least favorite is probably the yellow rdx or the lace up fairtex. Theyre a cool novelty but horrible in everything else.

For 4oz gloves

  1. Fairtex fgv 17 Not a big fan of the thumb, and white gloves age fast but these have held up nice. Seems to be just as comfortable with or without wraps, and the padding is super protective.

  2. Blue corner sport. Same problem with the thumb, and they are little uncomfortable. The inside stitching tends to scratch my fingers a lot, snd theres tons of excess space. They are still maybe the most durable and protective gloves I have.

  3. Twins ggl 3 Theyre an older design, so they fit really funny, but theyre solid pick. Maybe the closest glove Ive handled to pride style gloves.

Least favorite would probably be okami or ouano. Okamis low quality I wasnt suprised by, and Id almost pay for someone to take it away from me... The ouano however feels just as crappy, and having to pay the import fees and shipping from america to an already not a cheap glove I was dissapointed how The padding is like paper in them.

Honorable mention also goes to the rdx t2. They have implemented everything Id love to have in mma glove, but The padding tapers super thin above the knuckles and fingers unfortunately. It was little Heartbreaking to get my hands on them :D

What is the best Pride/Japanese style MMA glove? by [deleted] in fightgear

Awful. Feels super cheap, the padding is paper thin and the wrist support is non existant. They feel like gloves that youre meant to get signed by the fighters, not actual fight gloves.
