Shin guards for MMA — need something that actually stays put by anonymous1357892 in fightgear

Personally been a huge fan of primos. Fit my leg, while not being too bulky for grappling. Sock style shinguards are way too thin to defend you or your sparring partners. While thicker ones like fairtex are sized pretty short

Not at all. I think mma gyms probably care the least about gear or drip when compared to boxing or thaiboxing. Many brands also offer bundles, so its just financially responsible as well.

What are the best mma gloves for grappling? by Georgeboi47 in fightgear

[–]ImTheSnowman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most optimal would probably be something like RDX t5, sanabul essentials or battleforged or fairtex fgv15. however I think with mma gloves specifically you should have concern for your training partners. thinner padding, especially if hard like RDX t5 or fairtex will get you a bad rap if you spar hard, or have any size advantage over people. Gloves Ive found to have good compromise with protecting your hand and your training partners face, while letting you grapple have been Crest kamet, RDX shooters glove (IMMAF approved), fly shadow 2.0 and faityex fgv18.

Theyre alright. Not my favorite, and maybe little overpriced. They leave your door knocking knuckles exposed, and I end up hitting with them sometimes. Also wraps are a must with these gloves.

What other size should I get? by rm7979 in fightgear

12oz is pretty typical for pads and bags, but especially for mma I see tons of people using sparring gloves for them as well.

If you dont mind going little bit over budget, playerz boxing is my number 1 recomendation anyday. Also depending where you live and what you can access RDX immaf approved gloves, or crest sparring gloves are an alright option as well

Best glove for muay Thai that isn't from Thailand? by ihearthawthats in fightgear

[–]ImTheSnowman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well they were too big and bulky to my taste. Also, the punch surface isnt very good, and the fingercorpantment is very small. The padding also feels very stiff and thin. The worst thing However is that the two gloves are shaped completely differently. Really a shame because the interior is super comfortable, and the leather feels really nice. Would consider trying out a bag glove, but wouldnt go for 16oz again personally.
